Try accessing "Safe Mode". Upon start up of your notebook, continually keep tapping on the F8 key. If all goes well you will be at the "Advanced options" window. Select "safe mode" press OK, select your OS and press OK. This will take you to a DOS screen with lots of text. Wait for a few minutes at this window. At the next screen try your login and see if it will let you in. If you are now accessing your notebook in Safe Mode, see if you can check you can check the event logs (right click My Computer, choose Manage. The Computer Management window will open. In the left side, click on the plus symbol beside Event Viewer. Now highlight the Systems file and check any error messages that may be there.

Hope this helps.

Cant log on to my laptop

Probably the easiest way to resolve this issue is by following the steps outlined below.

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Turn the computer on and immediately press F8 repeatedly until you get the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
3. use the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and press enter.
4. Window is should start with a "Help" window.
5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?"
Click on that and "Click to open System Restore"
6. click on that and a new window comes up recommending restoring to a previous state.
7. Click ok and the operating system should restore your computer successfully and reboot into normal mode.

When I turn on my acer aspire 6530G laptop after it displays all the icons on the screen the message "Locking your computer" immediately follows then it would go back to the screen that asks you to log-in...

One tip: Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del (if one hit not work try two hits). Enter your user name and password. (no need to enter the password if you don't have one. Just hit enter). If you wasn't using the built in Administrator account (and if its not password protected type in Administrator and hit enter). Scan the PC for Viruses. And check whether there is a problem with the security log if logging enabled. (Start -> Run -> Type in Eventvwr.msc and hit Enter key and go to "Applications" and "System" and check for errors)

Sounds like something to do with a power saving feature either from HP itself or from Windows. It could also be that for some reason your computer is overheating, which it than shuts itself off to protect the processor. I would try playing with your power saving features, and cleaning out the fans.

Can't log in windows vista

Go into the power settings and disable the password prompt when resuming from standby. If you want it to prompt for the password then restart the machine and enable it. This should clear up the glitch. If it doesn't, then you can try either a system restore or a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the restore doesn't fix it, the repair definitely will.

Problem to log in.

Start up in safe mode pressing F8 on boot up and select safe mode. When in the system under administrator there will be option for you to delete the password on your account. Re boot then enter again with no password.
