I can not install DLINK Wireless G Router, have reset it a number of times, I can access log on at http://192.168.0.1/ but it will not accept admin as user name and password. Using CD it fails at step 3 and requests defaults to be reset. Any ideas how to proceed?

If the default password on the DLink has been changed then -
To reset the DLink back to the default settings -
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON until the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESET button. (firmware version was 3.00, and upgraded to 3.05)
Connect a LAN cable from the DLink to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-ink configuration URL..
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. (SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access).
Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the routers wireless settings.

the first time you access http://192.168.0.50 it will ask you for username and password. Type the default username and password. If you don't know try one of these:

Username: admin
Password: password

Username: admin
Password: No password (just hit enter after you type the username)

Username: admin
Password: admin

Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.

Log in to your router settings and go to advanced tab. On the left hand side, options are lsited and pick wi-fi -protected set-up. Navigate to http://192.168.0.1 in your web browser. For the username, enter "Admin". For the password, leave it blank.
Then follow the Setup Wizard to configure the router how you like.

It appears your brother has changed your wireless router settings.
You can reset the Dlink back to the default settings by -
Power off the Dlink and press and hold the RESET button on the back of the Dlink and the power on the Dlink. Hold the RESET button for 5 secs. until the LEDs flash at the same time.
Connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Dlink. Open a browser and enter the Dlink's configuration URL
http://192.168.0.1
Default login = admin
PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the admin password and set up a new passphrase (ie encryption)

You reset the D-Link back to the factory default by - Press the RESET button at the back of the wireless router when it is powered up. Holt the RESET button foe at least 5 secs until the LEDs flash and then release the RESET button.
You can then configure the D-Link as follows ;-
To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

you have to change your channelk type in your wi fi router.
For that access your router with following link

http://192.168.0.1

if you have belkin router
http://192.168.2.1

type user name as "admin" and password is "admin" or blank or "password"

then go to wi fi ->advanced setup chang channel type 4 ,6 ,11
change chanel type 1 by 1 and check signal strength.
everyt time save settings and restart both computer and router after save settings.
