Hi, I have Acer Travelmate 2300 laptop with Bios Ver. 3A07. I would like to upgrade my internal (ide) HDD, but it seems like the maximum capacity allowed by motherboard is limited to 128GB. Is there any solution to use a large hard drive capacity with this laptop?
Ive had a look on the acer website and there is a replacement bios available , but theres no mention if it would enable large Hd support , rather than flashing your bios and potentially destroying your laptop i would purchase a external drive , you can get the enclosures for 10-20 pounds and fit a decent size HD in this

its the same version , sorry , tbh i would stay away from hacked bios's etc and just bite the bullet and go external

I have the Aspire 5000, just updated the BIOS (3A32) it did not help. I was stuck at 137 GB limit. I put my 100 GB drive back in and use the 250 GB as an external backup drove.
