Good day sir/ma'am, hi, If your PC does not produce sound, it could be any of the following so check the list one by one:

  1. Your device driver for the sound is not yet installed. locate the CD that comes with your PC. I could help you find the driver if you add any information about your PC model or motherboard maker, you can download the driver at driverguide.com, just note the maker and model.
  2. Your volume is either in mute or in a low volume setting. Check the taskbar at the lower right side of the desktop, if you see a speaker icon, right click it and set the volume level to high.
  3. Your speakers is not connected to the audio port. Check the baby plug stereo speaker connector for open wires, if the wires are good connect it to the green audio port at the back panel of the PC, (usually pink, blue and green are side by side)
  4. Your speakers are not working properly. If you have portable mp3 players, plug in your speakers to test the speaker unit itself.
  5. Worst come to worst if your green audio port is the defective one. you can use the blue one provided you enable 4 channel, so sound is also sent to the blue port.
  6. your built in sound card is bad, you can get a replacement soundcard of any brand, provided its PCI slot. or get those small USB type sound card.
  7. Check also the BIOS setup, see if the built in sound card is enabled.
If I miss anything feel free to ask, hope these will solve your sound problems.

Why won't my hp elitebook 8540p speakers work while in the docking station, connected only to external mouse and monitor?

You can switch audio playback between the docking station and your Surface speakers. Here's how:
Step 1: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.) Step 2: In the search box, enter manage audio, and in the search results tap or click Manage audio devices. Step 3: Next, do one of the following:
  • To play audio through the audio port on the docking station, tap or click Speakers (CNXT Audio).
  • To play audio through the Surface speakers:
    • On Surface Pro 2 or Surface Pro 3, tap or click Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio).
    • On Surface Pro, tap or click Speakers (2-High Definition Audio Device).
Step 4: Tap or click Set Default, and then tap or click OK.

Can Dell speakers be used with HP computers? I recently purchased a HP computer. Can I use my Dell speakers? I can turn them on and the light comes on, but can get no audio.

Well speakers are speakers so to "Speak" ... As long as the INPUT connections are the same, then, there is NO reason why they should not work.

HP PAVILION ze2000 speakers not working

First of all, make sure that the issue is with the Speakers or with the Audio Card of the notebook.

First, download and install the Audio Drivers of the Notebook from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp30001-30500/sp30262.exe

Please save the file in the Notebook and double click it after the download completes to install the drivers.

Restart the computer once the installation is completed.

Now, try playing any audio file using Windows Media Player.

If you are not able to get any audio from the speakers, try pluging Headphones into the Headphone Jack of the Notebook.

If you are able to listen audio from the Headphones, the issue is with the Speakers where you need to replace them.

However, if you are not able to listen audio either from the Speakers or from the Headphones we need to suspect the Sound Card.

Contact HP Chat support and find the Part Number of the Speakers if there is audio from the Headphones.
