Hi,

I just purchased a Magnavox DVD/VCR recorder. When setting up, no options will show up on my TV screen. What have I done wrong?

Thanks,

My problem is with a ZV450MW8 Digital Video Disc Recorder with Video Cassette Recorder. I have never been able to record from either the VCR or the DVD because it also shuts off. If I remove a VCR tape from the machine, I can count to 5 and the entire thing turns off then to. I spent serious money for a piece of junk that is totally useless except as a dust catcher. I even had the techs with the cable provider I use try to set it up, thinking it was me, and they couldn't get it to work either. If anyone has any suggestions or has had the same problem, please share your info with me. I'd love to be able to use this thing instead of look at it.

Well James Otis obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. By all the other posts saying they put it on channel 3 and it did no good, it is obviously not a solution.

If no one has been able to figure this out in a year, perhaps Magnavox is simply junk.

I am considering purchasing a Funai Full HD UpConvert DVD Recorder/VCR Combo. I have a HD Phillips TV with HDMI connections. I do not have cable - just use over the air TV. How do I connect the Fun

Purchase a DVD recorder/player that has a HDMI cable connection and use the connections on the TV so you'll get a hi def picture. RF will NOT give you a Hi Definition picture even if it's up converted.

I can only record and play back in black and white.

siri,

for the black and white screen output of your DVD and VCR.

1) for DVD player: using remote control locate "setup" button and click.a dialogue box should appear indicating " audio setup" video setup" etc.....
2) select and scroll to "video setup". in video setup there should be an option to choose "AUTO" "PAL" or "NTSC"
3) choose "auto" then check if any change in screen color.

for VCR, locate a switch or button indicating "PAL" "Auto""PAL SECAM" "NTSC". same with the dvd choose and select "auto"

note: if you still have the manual for both VCR and DVD check the instruction with regards to video color setting.

cheers,
mark

VCR WON'T RECORD

you may have the outputs hooked up correctly however you may need to set the inputs to the selected type of cable you are using. S video 1 cable or video input witch is an rca adapter yellow in color. you will find these setting in the "setup section" on the remote set up button will get you there and then input or source.

I cant finalize my DVD recordings on my magnavox recorder.

Try this. In your SETUP options, ensure that AUTO FINALIZE and FINALIZE AT END OF TIMER are turned OFF.

Insert DVD to be finalized. Quickly press SETUP button. Be patient while DVD loads. (You will not see the "loading" bar on your TV screen. You will instead be mesmerized by the SETUP options!)

Once DVD has loaded the DISK FINALIZE option will be available. You can then FINALIZE.

I found it cheaper to get DVD-R from Radio Shack (about $5 for 25) for VHS movies that I know I want to keep. They do record up to 6 hours, even though the packaging is unclear on this point. Picture quality is as good as the expensive DVD's.

Can i record from tv to dvd

yes
make sure the cables are connected correctly, the manual will show that.
If the mwr20v6 has a tuner you must have the channel on the dvd set to the program, if it has no tuner, you must have your tv set to the correct channel.
