Will not let me register my garman 260w. - Garmin nuvi 260W GPS Receiver

When you're registering it you have to create a username and password. To check if it's registered go to www.garmin.com
Click on the myGarmin tab at the top of the screen.
Enter your username and password and try to log in.
If you log in successfully click on the myProducts tab at the top of the screen.
If your satnav is registered you will see it's name shown there.

To register your Garmin nuvi

1. Connect the satnav to your computer.
   
2. Go to www.garmin.com
3. Select your country from the drop-down list
4. Click the myGarmin tab
   
5. Click "Register your Garmin Product" and follow the prompts.

the plug at the back of the GPS is shorted, it will need to be replaced, the part is not avail to the consumer and so you must have it repaired at a Garmin factory approved service center

First you'll have to register with www.garmin.com. When you register you'll be asked to create a username and password. Note it down as you'll need it anytime you go to update in future. WHen you've registered, click on my garmin, then click on my maps. IF there's an update it will be shown there. Click on get update and follow the download instructions. You'll need a broadband connection as the file can be very big, 4 Gb for Europe, and a credit card to pay. The update costs around 80 euros. If you don't have a broadband connection you'll have an option of getting the update on dvd.

You can go to mygarmin.com or garmin.com . You have to register. It is for FREE. Then,you can update your GPS. You can also download maps by just following the screen instructions.
You can also find all the software/drivers you need there.

It is probably registered to someone else. Call them on the phone.

Have you tried using Windows PC to do it?

You can register your GPS on www.myGarmin.com if it's a brand new unit. If someone else have registred it first (i.e. bought on eBay or similar), it could be a bit of a hazzle however.

do not have a problem with the garman. I would like to register and it states this particular one is already registered. Something wrong. Cannot seem to register on line. I give up and won't register it.
