If your on Windows or Mac. You have to use iTunes. It's a totally free download.

If your on linux. Use gtkPod. It's the simplest iPhone, iPod media manager they make for Linux since Apple don't make an iTunes for linux

Need Support for Acer emachine e520-2496 Linpus Linux

I bought one 5 months ago. The e520-2496 has no pre-installed software hence the low price. my included dvd didn't do anything either. I bought a Linux Fedora 10 installation DVD from www.osdisc.com for 5 bucks. this made it very easy the dvd was recognized immediately and has self expanatory instructions. Or go to www.fedoraproject.org and download it for free and burn it to a dvd. If you hold down the Ctrl key with the DVD in it should load it. Or check www.linpus.com but it is no help. I eventually installed linpus desktop from thier website and have a dual boot with Linpus and Fedora 10. The Linpus is no good with no wi-fi or support I do not recommend it. The Fedora 10 has excellent wi-fi and tons of support, forums, and updates. Or gooogle "linux OS" and choose from dozens of free or cheap Linux systems. If you go with Fedora 10 just make sure you buy a 64 bit version. The e520 has a 64 bit celeron M processor. P.S. don't mess around when your in root if you don't know what your doing and, always type in "exit" when done. I am new to this also but learning fast. hope this helps.

Install Sierra Wireless 595U on Acer Aspire One Linux

I did get my 595u to connect but need to solve some more problems.
First setup the right click menu as described in http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/09/05/ten_aspire_one_tips/

Then update software with software updater.

I installed an update to hal-info that may be needed. Search for hal-info and fc8and download the latest (or later than 200803) rpm. Usually select the title in rpmfind to download the rpm. Save it to Documents. Next open a terminal with the right click menu.
Change to the Documents directory 'cd Documents' ( hint type "cd Do<TAB><ENTER>')
List files - 'ls'
Should see the hal-info....rpm file
change to root
su<ENTER>
-- enter setup password --
Install the rpm with
'rpm -Uvh hal*rpm'

Should see success.

Next Right click -> System -> Add/Remove Software
Enter password
Check Development ->Development Tools

May need to uninstall gettext (to replace lw version with fc8 version) with
rpm -e gettext

Then go to http://www.sierrawireless.com/faq/ShowFAQ.aspx?ID=1235 and download and download source code. Here is where I had trouble . Linpus did not include headers or module Make files. Another kernel fc8 tree was available. I booted into the fc kernel by editing /boot/grub/grub.conf and setting default=0. This break file manager. I will try to obtain linpus kernel build info and try again.
