I have ben gifted a new ipod apple a1136 but

you can search for manual here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ theres a box to enter your serial number and it will then find the exact manual for that model

A1136 80GB works when plugged into mains not on it's own even after long charge.

Try to reset it (instructions here) if not, you may need to have apple install a new battery for you

Ipod model no A1136 FROZEN : DO NOT DISCONNECT , CANT RUN

Try reseting it, It worked for me. Hold down the "Menu" button and the middle button for about 7-10 seconds.

i would recomend going to that website and seeing what it tell you also plug your ipod into the pc it might be fixable from itunes

There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.

Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.

All previous answers are only half right. The A1136 is for both the 5th and 5.5th Gen versions. In 2005 Apple released a 30GB and 60GB version of the 5th Gen Classic. In 2006 they released an additional 80GB, 120GB and 160GB version with a slightly amended Logic board. It was still classified as model A1136 but the copyright date on the back is 2006 and is known by 3rd parties as the 5.5Gen.
The Logic board part number for the 5.5Gen is 820-1975-A and works with both 5th and 5.5th Gen models. However the 820-1975 only works for the 5th gen and is limited to the 30GB and 60GB drives.
