40:1 is the standard mix. Go buy one of the little containers ( 3.2 ounces) of 2-cycle oil and mix it with a gallon of gas in an approved container (like a gas can). How you mix it is, pour some gas in the container...about 1/4 of the gallon, then pour in the oil, mix well, by shaking the can then add the remaining gasoline and PRESTO, you have a 40:1 mix!

As with all oil/petrol mix engines. The reason for the oil is not to power the engine but merely to lubricate its engine parts. Therefore with this in mind you only need an 8th of the oil to fuel ratio in order to lubricate the internal moving parts and prevent excessive wear and ceasure.
