Door will not close.
My JVC GR-D244U shows on screen "Eject and reinsert tape unit in safeguard mode" I ejected and reinserted the tape numerous times, and still the it says the same thing, It will not record. I even ejected and went to menu to reset, but nothing happened. Please help.
I have had the same problem...usually had success by taking off the battery, putting it back on, turning the power off and on, etc. It has always gone back in eventually. I also tried re-charging the battery and replacing. Could this be an old battery problem? Mine is 4.5 years old.

cassett tray will not retract inward with or without cassett. Door will not close accordingly!!!! gr-d244u

Same problem... door will not close. To send off to JVC would cost a minimum of $125 per Best Buy who is an authorized dealer. Very unhappy!!!!!!!!!!!
