It sounds like you have a problem with the air temperature sensor on the roof. either you have some damage to the wiring going to the sensor, or the sensor itself has gone bad. Also, check the wiring inside the control box, make sure the connections are tight. If possible, follow the wire from the control box all the way to the sensor. If the wire looks good and there is no damage at all, the sensor probably needs to be replaced.

What does roof censor O/C mean on a sunlover pool solar heating SL2 controller?

If showing O/C then pool sensor is Open Circuit (cable may be broken) or unplugged.
If showing S/C then cable is Short-Circuited or may have been disconnected from the plug and then reconnected in reverse.
Damage to roof cables often occurs if buried in trench and not in conduit. Swap the pool sensor with the roof sensor to prove that the
fault indication also swaps. This proves that it is a sensor fault and not the unit. The Manual for the SL2 Controller is on the Sunlover Website - www.sunloverheating.com.au under the Controllers tab. Sounds like youll need a new sensor - nice and simple - call Sunlover and they will post one out or you can collect one from their office.

Had my roof replace so had plumber remove solar panel and reinstall now the water does not circulate and the system just flashes

The two pipes that connected the pump system to the solar heater were probably capped and they should have been connected to cause normal water flow. I hope this helps.

I've a pentair solar control panel for my solar system for my pool. On one sunny and very warm day in California, the water in the pool remained cold after a few hours of circulation. Therefore, I was...

There are many variables to this......

How big is your pool how big is your solar system.

Solar temps don't rise quickly ever, and definitely not when the temp is only 75 outside.

You need 80-90 degrees or more on the roof to see quicker results, if the water temp is currently at 70 and it's 75 degrees outside and 80 on the roof you will barely get any change.

You will also lose the heat at night due to lower temperatures.

Once it's hotter outside and warmer at night you get the gains and keep them.

Hope this helps

The pool pump cuts out sometimes when it is pumping warm water from the solar heating pipes located on the garage roof

sounds like the motor is too small for the job.? has the motor been changed? if not -have the run capacitor checked by your local pool pump motor repair guy also the SF and HP must match the impeller size this number can be found on the front of the impeller and SF,HP can be found on the motor ID PLATE. gather all this info when you buy a motor or impeller .. very important ! . if you find you are stuck with you new motor the FIX is to get the impeller that is right for your motor

Swimming pool solar heater panels freeze problem

Depending on the manufacturer, your solar panels may be replaced under warranty. Our installer says that once the panels begin leaking, they tend to deteriorate fairly rapidly. For example, three leaks the first year, 7 leaks the second year, 30 leaks the third year.

Many solar panels are warrantied against freezing, but that is not likely to be the future of the warranties, because they inevitably DO freeze and leak.

If there are just a few leaks, it is easier to fix them - a Fafco Solar panel repair kit can usually be bought from your installer for about $25.00.

If you turned the pump on to manual to circulate the water through the panels, that should prevent a freeze - but will cost you the electrical cost to run the pump.

Our experience has been that it is better NOT to drain the panels - we had many fewer leaks the years we have not drained the panels, despite occasional hard freezes in our part of California.

In addition, your rooftop installation should help radiate some heat up to the panels to keep them from freezing.

Check your warranty and get the panels replaced if there are more than a few leaks.
