It is, you need to clean it if oyu can get the motor out and open it and use special cleanning spray used for electrics and air dry or pressure air and close it...do not use it as it may totaly killl it

If the burning smell is an electrical smell it could be motor or wiring problems which are best handled by a professional. If it smells like burning rubber it is probably the belt. If it smells like burnt wood it could be the belt slipping on the brush roll, if the brush roll is made of wood. Dust and debris can also accumulate behind the end caps of the brush roll causing friction which can cause a burning wood smell.
Dear Sir: There can be 3 options: 1) Deck belt smell bad 2) Drive belt smell bad 3) Drive main motor winding burn. Test it and proceed according. or Course you can do it by yourself or 2) call to service tech.
Not sure what a burning header smells like, but I would expect two possible smells. First, if the blower motor itself is going, you might smell the windings getting hot - like a transformer burning. If this were the case I would expect that the motor wouldn't spin on the low speeds.
The other smell you sometimes get is when the heater core leaks. Then you will get a coolant smell inside the car and sometimes (usually) a wet carpet as well.
The motor is probably stuck and burned. Open the door and turn the drum manually. You should be able to turn it easily by hand if the motor is not stuck.
Remove the back panel and use your sense of smell to verify where the burning smell is coming from. The possible source of the smell is the motor or the motor control board located on the left side of the machine viewed from the rear.

Burning smell could be the windings in the motor. Better not to use it and have it looked at. If the smell is a rubber smell then the belt is jammed while the motor spins. still needs intervention as it can catch on fire and you will have a bigger problem than the one you have now
Your drive belt may have broken if it smelled like rubber burning. If that is the case then your motor bearing are worn out or something has been lodged between your dryer drum and the dryer housing. If the smell was the odor of burning plastic, then your motor is probably burned up.
