If you know for sure that water is flowing TO the washer's water hoses, then the water solenoids must be bad. Listen to see if you can hear both the cold and hot water solenoids buzzing (use the cold & hot water temp switch to switch back and forth). If they're buzzing, then water should be flowing, but if not then water cannot flow because they're not mechanically opening up (they are bad).

Sure, if you're handy with fixing things, tools, etc., shouldn't be a problem you ought to be able to take care of it. Be sure to UNPLUG the washer so you don't get shocked when you're changing the solenoids. Make sure you keep the correct polarity...right wires go to the right terminals, and you'll be in business.

i think you may be right, next question....is this something i can change myself as im quite good at repairing but is it a live area as i dont want to give myself a shock..or is it ok to change them as long as the electricity is off?sorry for the long questions
