Cannot tune all digital cahnnels on Sharp aquos

In Australia you can not use it. There is no "free other over the air" TV any more. In the last 5 years they switched it gradually off. You can't use it with a standard antenna.
now you need an additional costly and spacely set top box to get hd- channels.

Is this a replacement set? Plugged in the same antenna?
Is this the analogue tuner you're using or it's DTV (Digital TV tuner)?
If you're in the USA and Canada there are no analogue transmissions.
You'll find the tuner selection in Menu and a sub menu headed Inputs.
If in the UK some regions have closed down analogue signals already and some are coming up to doing so, concluding with my region, London in June, 2012.
If you're not in these countries you'll get your area's info. by entering 'Digital TV changeover' into Search on your web browser.

Does it have a built in digital tuner? unplug wait 5 minutes hold power button while you plug it in you should get into a secret menu usd by techs look and see if you have a digital tuner hope that way works for that set

Dry joint - faulty capacitor on the PC board of the decoder. Found by wiggling the components and resoldering

The transition from analogue TV broadcasting has been painfull in some areas. the only way to get out of this frustration is to buy yourself a digital set top box . This will convert the digital TV signals to analogue form so that your TV can pick them clearly. In any case ,the trend is to have all analogue transmissions phased out altogether

Try video input using a dvd - if you are using a digital cable box (or satellite) use the a/v outputs (yel red wht wires)to hook to video in of TV. If you are using standard cable hook the cable through a vcr if available and hook the a/v of the vcr to video in of the tv.
Otherwise is tv(to be used) on Ch3?
The TV tuner may be defective.

...if that doesn't help, I suggest re-tuning all your channels. There should be manual buttons situated somewhere on your TV to allow you access to the menus without having to use the remote control.

I have a similar problem. The Sharp TV aquos appears to be shutting down my blue ray player and dvd recorder when connected via HDMI. They work fine and never close down when I connect them via the rca cables either single video connection or a composite 3 cable rca lead. I have 3 HDMI inputs on the tv and the problem occurs on all 3. Any suggestions?

you need a cable hdtv box to get hdtv.

If you are using an analogue signal then check things like DECT phones, Wifi / DSL modems, power cables, power convertors / UPS, washing machines, dryers, microwaves etc are kept as far away from the cables as possible.
Have you bought anything new recently, when it happens think what things are turned on... is it the garage door being opened etc.
If you are using a digital signal (and ideally something like a DVD player or a games console rather than a cable TV box) then check the HDMI cable.  If all appears well then it could well be a fault with the television, especially if you get interference from multiple source (i.e. cable TV, DVD player, console etc)
