I have a rear projection LCD TV which has developed a yellow patch on the screen. any Ideas?

IF you have tried replacing the rear projection bulb and you are still having an issue then the TV's panel is most likely burning out.

Go to main menu, turn color all the way off to see if you have perfect black and white. If you still have yellow, it's in the focus block or convergence circuit, If it's perfect black and white then it's going to be in yc chroma luminence circuit.

If it looks like a cloud of colour, the optical block needs replacing. It is the heart of the LCD. We had ours replaced twice, under warranty.

My PT-43LC14 has a yellow tint on 3/4 of the bottom to top. the top 1/4 seems normal. I removed the bulb assembly and it looks OK. Any ideas. Is there anything I can doe myself. and if so what is the p/n I can buy?

ok u could have somthing on the lcd srenn and thta is y u have a yellow spot what i would do first is pull out the unit and look at the luc screen and buld to see if u have somthing on it i could be a small pice of papaer or anything it is best if u look at it thru the lens on the inside on the tv when u have it on because u can see i t better i hope this hps marty

Depends on whether you use the TV as your "daily driver" or not. Colour patches on the edges of the screen sounds a bit like a purity problem. If replacing the lamp every year is proving too expensive, not to mention a tad repetitive since it indicates the short life of the lamp(s), plus the set happens to be a few years old, perhaps consider a new TV of approximately the same screen size (50" and up) - if the latter is what you want to do.

It could be something on the crt embedded that looks like the screen.

You have a problem with the optical engine- The only repair would be to change the engine for about $500-$1,000 plus labor. This is a major repair (sometimes caused by dust particles getting on the LCD panels inside the engine, but disassembling the engine to try and clean it is not a reasonable option)

you can't do anything about this TV. Theres no such thing as a LCD rear projection television.
