D3drm.dll errors usually appear when a game or other software program is started.

D3drm.dll issues are caused in one way or another by an issue with Microsoft DirectX.
The d3drm.dll file is one of many files contained in the DirectX software collection. Since DirectX is utilized by most Windows based games and advanced graphics programs, d3drm.dll errors usually show up only when using these programs.

Important Note: Do not download the d3drm.dll DLL file individually from any "DLL download site."

1. Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. Chances are, upgrading to the latest version of DirectX will fix the d3drm.dll not found error.

Note: Microsoft often releases updates to DirectX without updating the version number or letter so be sure to install the latest release even if your version is technically the same.

Note: The latest version of DirectX should be installed no matter if you're running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP. The installation may include DirectX10 and DirectX9 files but they run side-by-side without problem on all of these
operating systems.
2. Assuming the latest DirectX version from Microsoft doesn't fix the d3drm.dll error you're receiving, look for a DirectX installation program on your game or application CD or DVD. Usually, if a game or other program utilizes DirectX, the software developers will include a copy of DirectX on the installation disc.

Sometimes, though not often, the DirectX version included on the disc is a better fit for the program than the latest version available online.

3. Uninstall the game or software program and then reinstall it again. Something might have happened to the program files that work with d3drm.dll and a reinstall could do the trick.
4. Restore the d3drm.dll file from the latest DirectX software package. If the above troubleshooting steps haven't worked to solve your d3drm.dll error, try extracting the d3drm.dll individually from the DirectX downloadable package.
5. Update the drivers for your video card. While it's not the most common solution, in some situations updating the drivers for the video card in your computer could correct this DirectX issue.

This graphics driver is not included in Vista. In order to get it to work follow these steps:

1) Download "d3drm.dll" from http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/d3drm.dll/5.1.2600.0/download.html

2) Copy it in to the "c:\windows\system32" folder

Run your program again and it should work.

SOURCE: d3drm.dll its not working on my pc

D3DRM.DLL is Direct3D Retained Mode, a very old technology from 1997 that was removed from Windows Vista. Almost no applications use it, but it sounds like the one you are trying does.

I'd say go to the Microsoft website and download the direct X runtime updates
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71...1b-bc6a

This is not the same as installing or re-installing DX 9.0c.

I did a search on my system and my XP install does have the D3DRM.DLL file,
but my vista install, in which I did install all of the DX updates, does not.
Is the game you are trying to install fairly old ?

If you have another computer system with XP on it, you could search for
that file, Should be in the c:\windows\system32\ folder and copy that file to
your vista system to the same C:\windows\system32 location

If not,you can download the file from this location. downloading from an
unknown site is always a bit risky, so I'd suggest finding someone with an
XP install and using the file. but this will get you where you are going. I
did a file compare to the one I had and the one listed in the link, so it
appears to be the same file.

http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/d3drm.dll...1.2600.

Hope this would help you a lot.

Please rate me if i am helpful.
Thank you.

I got a remote controll helicopter and when I installed the software for the Flying Model Simulator, it brings up an error saying that D3DRM.DLL IS NOT LOADED.. What can I do to run this program so I can...

The D3DRM.DLL file is the Dynamic Link Library for Direct3D Retained Mode, an older DirectX display technology that was not included with Windows Vista. Direct3D is used to render three dimensional images in applications where performance is important; the most common examples of which are games, CAD drawing programs and graphics editing software.
The error message displayed varies by program, but some some of the more common ones are:
  • "Failed to initialize Direct3D with current settings"
  • "Cannot find the file d3drm.dll"
  • "This application has failed to start because d3drm.dll was not found"
  • "D3DRM.dll is not loaded"
This error is usually a sign that the d3drm.dll file has been deleted, corrupted or altered in such a way that makes it unusable to your program.
To fix errors like this:
1. Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. It will fix the d3drm.dll error.
2. Uninstall the game or software program and then reinstall it again.
3. Update the drivers for your video card.
4. If it doesn,t work copy d3drm.dll file to the system folder.
Hope it helps.

Can not play flight simulator says d3drm.dll is not in vista

Is your game old? d3drm.dll is related to Direct 3D retained mode which is part of Microsoft's DirectX API, Direct 3D is very old (1997) and has been removed from Window's Vista, therefor creating the incompatability.

d3drm.dll as I have come to understand, was implemented in Windows XP, if you have a copy or know someone who uses XP you could try looking through :windowssystem32 folder for the d3drm.dll file and copying it to your own system32 directory.
If you don't have access to XP at all you could also try this link
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/d3drm.dll/5.1.2600.0/download.html
You may wish to take precautions before downloading as downloads from an unknown site can always be risky.

If you have a copy of Windows XP, but you don't feel like messing with Vista's system directory or copying it didn't work, you could always try virtualization. Running a virtual copy of Windows XP along side Vista would allow you to run older games while running Vista.

Virtual Box is free and in my opion, easy to use virtualization software, you could try that or you could try vmware but that costs money.
