Zebra printers use 2 methods to sense the gap between labels. Transmissive or Reflective. Your labels have a black mark on the backing. Your printer uses these black marks to detect the gap between your labels. Ensure that your printer's mode is set to REFLECTIVE & check that your printer driver media also is set to BLACK MARK. Print a config label to look at your printer settings.
GAP NOT DETECTED error in display.
Possible Cause
Dirty media sensors, wrong label length
Recommend Solution
Clean the upper and lower media sensors by spraying them with dry air. This should bedone every time the media (label stock) is changed.
Before running the Auto-Calibrate operation, check the QUICK SETUP or MEDIA CONTROL menu for the 'Label Length' parameter. It should be set to the length of the label, not counting the gap.
Check that the sensor type has been set in CALIBRATE CTRL menu to match the media and ribbon.
"Gap" Select when using media with a liner space between die-cut labels or when using tag stock with notches or holes as label length indicators.
"Mark" Select when using media that has horizontal black marks located on the underside of the label liner or tag stock.
"Advanced Gap" Select when media is gapped but also has a dark background.
This sensor arrangement looks through the ribbon, and will not work if ribbon is too dark.
"Advanced Notch" Select when media has a notch that is placed in a dark line on the back of the stock.
Check the position of the media sensor. It should pass through the center of gaps or marks or notches, but not through pre-printed areas if possible.
Run Auto-Calibrate in CALIBRATE CTRL menu, which sets Gap and Paper Out Thresholds
