Nothing happens when I press the start button on my gp 1200 Yamaha. I have recharged the battery and checked the main fuse.

Here is a list of things it could be. pull spark plugs check compression. all cylinders need to equal each other within five percent, and be over 100 lbs of compression. I don't know the year model but, some gp1200 comes with a security key pad. click here for a link to Yamaha, for the owners manual. it will give detailed instructions on how to reset code. last find the starter solenoid I have attached a picture.in the picture it has a number one marking the image. the discription at the bottom says starter relay assy A quick test of the starter is to jump across the leads. You need to be careful it will arc. best thing to use is a short screw driver. use the metal shaft of the screw driver to connect both threaded connectors on top.

Yamaha waverunner does not start

hi there it sounds like the switch gear need pulling apart and the copper contacts cleaned as it sounds like the kill switch is closed up and the starter button contacts need cleaning as well also check to see if the stater soliniod might need a cleanup where the wires go,also check your fuses to see if there contacting alright if you ride in all weather or the bike sits outside it can have these problems as mouisture gets into everything. hope this helps cheers pete

Have a 1999 yamaha 1200 xl wave runner when try to start nothing happens except start button lights up
