Won't burn DVD's after reinstalling Windows

My
Mitsumi DW 7801 TE DVD-RW quit burning dvd-r or -rw after I had to reinstall Windows. When I ran the Belarc Advisor it shows both of my drives to be cd-rom drives. I get an "Insert blank disk..." message when I insert a dvd disk and attempt to burn it or even read it to see what is on it. I have used Maxell DVD-R 4.7gb, up to 16x, 2 Hrs in SP mode and Memorex DVD-RW disk. I have windows XP on a Dell Pent 4, 638 RAM.Any suggestions or is it time to replace the drive? or the computer?

Sorry for not replying sooner, my isp had to come replace my cable lines. I just came back up and running today. I had to go to storage to find the disk for the Mitsumi and will try installing the drivers again and let you know.

And the disk did work before, infact we bought a combo vcr/dvd burner specifically that would use the disk that the computer produced. I will get back after dinner to let you know. Thanks for the response.

    Final:
The driver was missing all together. When I uploaded the driver the drive could see dvd's to burn again. I ran a speed test and all was wonderful. I didn't think the drive would work at all if the drivers were not present, but it would read cd's before, so it was really confusing me.

Thank you all for the information. For anyone else having a similar problem, always reinstall or update the drivers to your component when you are having a problem, it may be the simple and cheapest fix ya need.

    Again... thank you!

I am guessing that the discs you have used before the reinstall, worked...right?

Do you know if the driver before you are using now is the same one as the one you were using beofre the reinstall?

How can i burn files to my verbatim DVD+R DL, with what software and how, i don't have any clue, please help me and give me instructions of how to successfully burn files to Disc. My DVD drive is SONY...

CDBurnerXP is a good, free disc burning program that can do what you need. Rather than try to duplicate the information here, I'll just say that help is here on their website that explains how to use the program. It's quite simple, though. You just drag-and-drop the files you want to burn to the program's layout window, and when you're done adding files you click the "burn" button.

I have an external teac dv-28e-n usb DVD writer device which does not recognise and burn DVD rewritablce discs.

I think that Teac DV-28e Is a CD/DVD-ROM only, and will not burn discs. Teac DW-28e is a CD RW/ DVD ROM unit, and will thus play and burn CDs, but will only play DVDs. Check your model numbers to confirm, and then consider exchanging units if you need to burn CDs.

Slimtype DVD A DS8A1H ATA is not burning

make sure that the dvd rw is getting enough consistent power test all leads that are attached to the cd rom including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this dvd rw then plug them back in this will activate found new hardware wizard or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your dvd burner or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
or you might have to uninstall the burning software then reinstall your burning software

hope this helps

are u copying the disc on the fly i mean directly from dvd rom to dvd rw it sometimes generate this error when reading drive stops giving data due to some error and suddenly bcoz of that the writing drive leavve the session un closed and give an error the solution is first copy ur disc on the hard drive and then copy it on another disc on the fly copying is not safe otherwise also try this

due to dusty environment and excessive use lens gets dusty and then have problems in reading or writing dvd 's and cd's
