First Try This:
Try to uninstall Spysweeper and reinstall (Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs)

If it gets nasty reboot in to safe mode (follow these steps):
1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the "Windows XP with networking"

Once you are in safe mode do this:
1. Download the free microsoft app "Autoruns" from http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autoruns.zip
2. Extract the .zip file
3. double click the file "autoruns.exe"
4. The program will start autoscanning your computer to see what boots up with it (it will take a few min.... bottom left of screen tells you when it is done)
5. Make sure you are in the "Everything" tab (which loads up by default)
6. Hit CTRL + F (to do a Find)
7. Type "Spy" and hit ENTER
8. The first entry containing the word "Spy" in your startup instructions will be highlighted
9. Look at the "Image Path" column, if it contains anything like "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\" uncheck that item
10. Press F3 to see the next item containing the word "Spy"
11. Keep repeating steps 9 & 10 until you get through the entire list
I'm guessing you might find the following:
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SSU.EXE
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exe
12. Reboot as normal (spysweeper should not load up)
13. Attempt uninstall, reinstall again

I have a subsription with McAfee and I cannot download the software before having this webroot spy sweeper removed.I cannot find it on my computer and never had a subscription with this webroot spy...

first uninstall the webroot spy sweeper through the following steps.
1.click start
2.go to control pannel
3.open 'add or remove program'
4.a window will open wait for some time until the list is populated

5 i)in that list find webroot spy sweeper and click remove
go through the uninstall wizard and finish the uninstallation process

5 ii)if you didn't find webroot spy sweeper there then it can be a virus
You need to download a program called MalwareBytes because that searces your entire computer
, finds the virus and completely destroys it.

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Click the green 'download now' button (don't worry - this is free) and once you've downloaded it, got the updates and done a system sweep which takes a long time but it's worth it, you should be fine. It also solves the desktop, wallpaper and screensaver hijack, too.

6. restart your computer

7.open mycomputer click search and do a search for webroot spy sweeper
delete all the files and folders regarding webroot spy sweeper

8.now download mcafee before installing mcafee uninstall MalwareBytes and restart your pc
because at a time only one antivirus software should be used

i think this solution will help you
if the problem is not fixed please inform i will suggest some other ways

AVG compatibility

Just open task MGR and stop it from running, then update and restart,, If you surf the web and are on a lot of free sites you should get rid of AVG,,,# 2 is kaspersky for best,, and AVG is #10 I stake my life on this claim no matter what anyone says,if they say different
ask them what virus's and trojans and rootkits and worms they used for testing.

SpySweeper Anti Virus conflicts with Trend Micro AntiVirus

I would remove Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro. Then I would install the free versions of AVG, Ad-aware 2008, WinPatrol SpyBlaster and ScrubXP .

I have been using this combo for years and have had no problems as long as you keep them updated.

SPY SWEEPER

Are you running Windows Xp or Windows Vista

That error on XP usually means that your trial version or full version has expired. If you have upgraded to Vista, then you will need to uninstall Spy Sweeper and reinstall.

If you do not have the option of purchasing the software, then go to this link for a few version

Free upgrade

12/4/2007- Webroot experienced a brief system outage that may have caused some current Webroot Antivirus/Spy Sweeper users to receive a "keycode is valid but not in the database" error. To resolve this issue, please do a manual update of your software or wait for your program to do an automatic update check and the issue should be fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.
