It says that the main window is closed. how do I get my yahoo messenger to work again

That happens when there is a corrupted file of the program. What you need to do is go to the start button > control panel > programs or uninstall programs > select yahoo messenger > uninstall.

Restart your computer, then go to google type yahoo messener download and install yahoo messenger again.

it might be the connection from your ISP. just click try again, if it still persist close the window and call it up again.

Yahoo Messenger itself, plus Yahoo Web Messenger, Yahoo All New Mail, My Yahoo, your Mobile phone, plus any other computer.etc etc.
Yahoo classifies all these programs as different 'locations or devices'
Yahoo currently do not allow you to have 2 open and active at the same time. If you have one open, and then move to another, one will close and you get a message telling you that you have been signed out. You CAN have Messenger and Mail open together as long as your status is set to "offline" in MAIL by using the drop-box next to your name and selecting 'Sign out of chat'. ( your chat contacts will remove themselves from the inbox until you make yourself 'available' again.)
Please note:
You may think you are signed out of Messenger when this is not the case.
Hitting the 'X' when you close the Messenger page does not sign you out of Messenger it only closes that page - you have to Exit Messenger by right clicking the icon in the system tray.and selecting 'Exit' I suggest you make this setting. > (left click) Messenger > Preferences > General - check box "sign out of Messenger when I close the main window" > Apply > OK.
If the above does not apply and you suspect your account is being used by a hacker. When you get signed out, close all your Yahoo programs and type your name into this software. Hit "GO" and hopefully it will show you as "offline".
If not, contact Yahoo customer services

Just un-install the program first , then re-install it again, i am using Vista Ultimate and Yahoo messenger 10, and it works fine

See the right bottom side in taskbar , there will be the yahoo messenger icon light on/signed in > just double click on that icon ....all the best

Yahoo! has problems quite abit with everything they have e-mail, .com site and especially there messenger I would recommend you try uninstalling Yahoo! Messenger then re-installing yahoo! messenger then try again. let me know how this works out

!st, let me explain the problem more clearer, then I'll explain the solution.
Problem) My camera worked fine. Even when logging on to Yahoo messenger, i could still veiw myself when chatting. But when I clicked on the "broadcast" button, the "idle" status would change to "connecting" for a few seconds. Then the the following message would pop up, " The server is busy, Please close this window & try again in a few minutes".
Solution) In Yahoo messenger, click on "Messenger", scroll down & click on "preferences". In Category:, click on "connection". Make sure that "no proxies" is selected.

the same problem occured to me what you do is download new yahoo messenger setup file and then install it this will definately work to download yahoo messenger go here
