The fax will only work on an analog phone line, most offices these days especially if you have multiple lines, are digital. You may need the phone company to install a modem compatible phone line.

After dialing and scanning to send fax the machine says wait and then goes to print report and starts printing

Dear
Pl. check the tel.line, test for voice communication,if its ok and without any noise, there may be problem with fax communication line(internal), this may be tested by connecting a parallel telephone set and hearing the beep tones while sending the fax.(put the document in the ADF dial any one no. just to cut dial tone press START, ) If no beep tones in regular interval heard. its due to LIU card fault(mostly). You need to replace or repair the card.

Image on fax send report is set to off how do i change it to on so that i can fax out

The Fax report only tells you if the fax went through or not. The image on a fax report lets you quickly check the first page of the documents that were faxed (or supposed to be faxed). To get the image on the fax report, press Setup > Fax Confirmation > On Fax Send. Then select On for Image on Fax Send Report.

What you need is to test that your machine can send a fax. Make sure that the unit is installed correctly. Use the phone cord or adapter that came with the unit between the appropriate wall jack (on PBX systems for example) and the 1-Line jack. See the User's Guide if the phone is shared (voicemail, computer modem, answering machine). To test the unit, press Setup button on the Control Panel (the icon looks like an open end wrench). Choose Tools and Run Fax Test. This will check if the machine has a dial tone and can send information on the phone line. Use that information to troubleshoot the issue. For a hardware failure, cycle the power (turn off and unplug the unit) and check if there is a dial tone (I like an old corded phone for this test). If at all possible, if the test fax is unsuccessful due to a dial tone problem, disconnect all other devices on the phone line and retest. Then reconnect them one at a time to see which may be involved in the failure. Check that you are on an analog phone line.

Once you get a successful test fax, load your original (face down on the scanner glass or face up in an ADF). To fax from the all-in-one, enter the recipient's fax number with the keypad then press Start Fax black (or color as needed). (If the recipient gets poor print quality, adjust the scan resolution. This is under Options after you press Fax and then enter the destination number. This method also lets you chose when to send a fax.)

After you get the fax to work directly from the all-in-one, then you can set up the HP Solutions to fax from the computer.

I hope this helps.

Not able to send fax , new machine ..may be not set properly ..to the mode ( setting the Telephone Line Type) as per instructions but cant find that setting on machine , I am in Sydney..if someone can help...

It's in the fax menu under general setup, and the choices are tone or pulse. It will only work on an analog phone line, it won't fax on a digital system like most comercial bldgs. use.

I am unable to send fax, I get a 'phone line error' message. The phone line is fine, I checked it by pluging a seperate phone into it. When I go to 'On Hook Dial' I do not get a dial tone on the fax...

Please check the dial tone by following the instructions given below:
1. Press "Fax Mode."
2. Press "Menu."
3. Press "Up Arrow" or "Down Arrow" repeatedly until On Hook dial is highlighted.
4. Press "Select" twice.
You can now hear the dial tone of the telephone line.
5. Enter the number to which you want to send a fax.
Note: Press the keypad numbers to use an automated answering system.
6. Press "Start Black."
