HI:
You don't need to buy another copy of windows xp.
If your emachines tower still has the OEM windows xp license sticker on the side or back of the case, all you need is someone to loan you their disk and use your code when it asks for it. The only thing else you would need to do is download all of the needed drivers for your tower from the emachines site.

Is their files that need to be retrieved from the computer? If you were doing a restore they would be lost. You have other options. Your best option is to just purchase a copy of windows xp and install a fresh copy of windows. you will still have to find the drivers on the internet and download and install the. All of this work should really be done by someone who is computer savvy but its really not that difficult.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Thanks,
Lee

How to erase data to factory system default on emachine t3504 i t says to hit start then click all programs then click emachine but that heading isnt on list

If your computer has a recovery partition on the hard drive to as follows:
  1. Restart the computer
  2. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If your model does not have a recovery partition then you were given the option to make your own recovery CD's. Unfortunately if you did not do so then you will need to contact eMachines to see if they will sell you recovery CD's. I used to sell these models and as I recall they did not come stock with a restore CD.

I want to do a system recovery on a EL1200 emachines? Could someone tell me how to do this?

Hi,

I work with these machines every day, this model was designed after Acer bought out Gateway(who owned Emachines).

If you provide me an email address I will send a copy of the recovery disk creation instruction that we give to all our customers to you. Then once you have made the disks you can simply put disk one of the factory restore set in the DVD drive, Power down and restart and it will boot from the restore disk and from that point on you just have to confirm and agree with the warnings from the restore program to allow it to wipe the drive and start fresh.

Hope this Helps,

Chris

Couldnt find the sound card driver for emachine T3504

your drivers are available here : http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T3504
make sure you dowbload the drivers correct for the operating system you're using as both xp and vista are there. download them to your desktop so you can find them to install.. install..reboot if prompted..
also make sure to remove any entries in the device manager that have a yellow ! or ? next to them before installing new drivers..
The device manager can be found by clicking START-CONTROL PANEL-- double click SYSTEM-select the HARDWARE tab at the top- click on device manager..

Usb 2.0 ports not working on my emachines T3504

You may need to uninstall your current usb's and let Windows redetect them.

click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM. Click on tab HARDWARE, click on DEVICE MANAGER. Scroll down to UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER. Delete everything there. Click on ACTION, SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES. It should redetect and you should be good.

Need large disc support for old emachine, flash bios? or try restore cds?

Hi,
flashing a bios, can render your machine/motherboard useless.
You should always ensure any bios download is from a trusted source. if you experience a power failure, or an incomplete bios file. your computers as good as dead.
Windows 95/98 only supports disk drives to a certain capacity. if you updated to windows 2000/ME/XP your problems may be solved. I,d certainly try that first.
Bios flashing Last resort, even after finding a reliable bios update. also ensure the bios file is 256mb-512mb or equivalent. as this is standard bios file size.
Finally check that your hard-drive does not have a jumper ( Small white/black ) plastic block restricting the drives registered size.
When you install windows XP, it will ask you if you wish to enable LBA ( large block Allocation ) Select Y ( yes )
