When we first turn our KDL-46XBR4 on we have one horizontal line that seems to have the entire picture compressed into it, then after a few minutes the left side of the screen is fine, dark in the middle, and lower resolution on the right, then after a few more minutes uniformly bright with a few horizontal lines across the picture, with a larger ghost of the image on the right side, the after a few more minutes it will suddenly snap into a perfect picture. Happens on all inputs (xbox, cable dvr, vcr, computer (hdmi)). Any suggestions or is it toast? Started after 1.5 years intermittently & has gotten worse and consistent.
I just had the national service tech tell us the LCD panel needs to be replace. Just under $2000 to replace it. I bought my TV in Dec of 07. Called Sony and the TV has 1 year warranty. They are going to "review" my case and let me know in 24-48 hours.

How old is the tv overall? The tv can be repaired.

It was 18 months old when the first trouble started- now it's about 23 months and it got much worse.
We've discovered that if we gently shake the top right side of the set that it will often clear up totally. I've read of others payint $700-900 to repair these kinds of issues (& I can buy a new set for that today). I've exhausted the online support at Sony and got the local and national repair options from the site you gave me, but haven't talked to them yet.
I'm hoping if enough people post issues like this that Sony will do something for us. Any other suggestions?
