If the washer won't start, the user control and display board or the main control board may be defective. The main control board failure is not common. Check other parts and causes first.
If there is power to the display and the machine wont start, check that the door is latching properly as there is a switch in the door latch that tells the control board when the door is properly closed. The switch might be faulty.

Had a similar problem with our Kenmore front load washer, our grandson was caught leaning on door while it was open and it bent the hinge slightly, this misalignment resulted in the latch mechanism trying to lock the door shut( needed as a safety measure to prevent leakage) but it was unable to do so. Had limited luck with lifting the door while shutting it and holding it closed while pushing the start button,but eventually had to replace hinge. Parts man at service desk also advised not to hang wet heavy items on door (don't know why anyone would want to) as the same thing could happen,also don't try slamming door as that could result in costly latch replacement. Hello zabbster - Typically the DR or DO error code indicates that the door switch is not closed. Make sure that the door lock is completely closed. If the door is closed, make sure the door latch is not broken. If the latch is broken, you may possibly need to replace the door lock switch.

This problem is usually the front door latch "interlock" is not engaging. This is the safety device which keeps you from opening the door and pouring gallons of water on your feet. When you close the door, if the machine DOESN'T recognize it's closed - all electricity is cut off and the machine does nothing. If the machine DOES recognize the door is latched, the latch will lock and you can't open the door (for about 90 secs after you turn it off or unplug it). Does the door LOCK when it's closed? If not, just close it harder several times. A medium "slam" almost always takes care of a "sticky" interlock - and it doesn't hurt anything.

On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.

your door switch is the problem,where the door latch goes into the machine a little switch sites behind this a safety feature and if this is broke the machine will still switch on but will not work it will need replaced they are cheap.adrianxxx

Check out the door switch to make sure that it closes when you latch the front door. If it does not close the machine will be inoperative - safety measure.

you have to inspect that switch carefully,, its actually got 2 , a secondary switch latches just before the spin cycle, I'll try and locate the part for you

Check latch mechanism for alignment. Often operation of machine loosens latch mechanism causing internal switch for "door open (or ajar)" preventing rinse or spin cycle. Opening and closing door presses latch mechanism closing internal switch allowing for continue processing to rinse or spin cycles.
