HORRIBLE NOISE I have a GE Gss22jf we had a repair guy come over to look at it because it is really noisy, he said it needs an Evaporator Motor, an ADC Controller and a defrost element at approx $800 this sounds expensive, can I buy the parts online and fix it myself? the only parts I found that sound like these are an evaporator fan motor, a defrost heater element, and the ADC Controller, how will I know if I am buying the right parts? any suggested sites for purchasing these?

Hi,
Often the noise is the condenser fan underneath the frdge... the bearings get worn and then the fan starts to make a horrible racket...see if you can pin the noise down to that and then order a repalcement...

That is not that hard to fix and you can easily buy the parts yourself online...

Motor in wine frige is noisy???why

That motor is an evaporator fan motor. That noise occurs when the bushes in the motor start to wear. The motor is not in effect repairable but has to be replaced. Normally a 9 watt evaporator fan motor is installed into those wine coolers.

Loud noise from GE Side by Side

That's usually mounts inside the compressor. It could still last awhile so if you can put up with the noise just wait for it to quit before replacing the compressor or getting a new fridge.

Side by side gss22jf,fridge at 50 degrees

A quick stop at my local appliance store with some info for the tech.
and It was clear that the problem was in the evaporator(freezer)
section. turns out the defrost element($40.00) was the culprit.
It was so easy to change. Please be certain to unplug the refridge if you try this at home. This sure beats spending another $1,000.00 on a new
fridge. Good Luck

GE Top load washer 15years old. noisy when spinning

washer making a load cluck noise when the spin cycle starts.
It only happens when the motor turns slow for the first minute during the spin cycle. Otherwise it works fine.
if the motor is proper then the bearings in the motor got rusted and that needs replacement.the beasrings are located on the back of the motor.

Evaporator Fan Motor noise is excessive for this refrigerator. GE Profile CustomStyle Model PTI22SFMARBS Serial# SF900146V Jenn-Air

If the fan is always noisy, then it's probably is a bad fan. Easy to replace. But if the fan is quiet and purring sometimes, but buzzes like a demon when on high, then the problem is ice buildup. See a possible solution here.

Groaning noise on GE side by side refrigerator

Hello Michael,
Thanks for your question, I hope I can help some. My answer is long winded but full of good info.
The noise could be as the GE guy said refrigerant (gas) noise. If it is refrigerant noise it happens as the liquid refrigerant comes out of the tiny capillary tube and enters the evaporator (cooling) coil in the freezer. Along with the liquid coming through the capillary tube there often are gas pockets. The flow of the liquid and gas pockets into the evaporator coil cause strange sounds. If the noise you are hearing is this refrigerant noise, you should only hear the noise while the compressor is running and then only for a short time (1 to 2 minutes) after the compressor shuts off.
If the noise continues after that I do not think it is a refrigerant noise.
There are times when the compressor will not be running but the fan in the freezer will be running on this model. This is normal and working properly but if the noise is present when the freezer fan is running and the noise stops when the freezer fan stops, the likely cause will be the main board located in a square panel on the rear of the refrigerator above the compressor compartment. I know that sounds crazy but the main board can cause the freezer fan motor to make some really strange noises. Eventually the board will probably fail.
One other test would be for you to listen for the compressor to turn off, then if the noise is present after the compressor turns off, you would next unplug the refrigerator from the receptacle. If the noise continues with the refrigerator unplugged it must be refrigerant noise. If it stops, I am betting on a bad main board.
I tried to locate for you information on a material that Whirlpool and Frigidaire as well as some others use as a noise deaden-er that they wrap around where the capillary tube enters the evaporator. I was not successful in locating anything. I am sorry I could not find it.

Noise

I believe you will trace this noise back to the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer making the noise. If you agree that the noise is coming from the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer it is not the motor that is responsible. Your model has a Main Mother Board on the outside rear wall of the freezer down low (about 10 screws hold square cover on over board). The Main Board is causing your noisy evaporator fan motor. Use caution when handling any electronic circuit board. Follow antistatic cautions. Static electricity in your body can damage these valuable circuit boards.
