My Dad loves this little camera which just started acting up. He put a new battery in it and it still extends out just a little when he pushes the zoom button. Thank you
Re: Minolta Freedom 90 Zoom won't extend all the way
You will find it not cost effective to repair a Freedom 90 zoom. It is a discontinued model and parts are not available. There are several versions of this camera available on eBay, Amazon has 0

Remove the battery and check it for voltage with a multimeter. The drop may have caused internal damage to one of the cells. This link shows that 'Freedom Zoom' is a generic series for Minolta and is not an actual model. I was trying to see what form the battery took. If it is the Duracell lithium 123 battery, they should each read 3 volts on the meter.
Sounds like a broken gear or linking arm. It will cost as much to fix as to replace. You now have a very nice Minolta paperweight, lol. Those neat little film cameras are now a thing of the Ebay, LOL. Since many are dumping them for digital, they're quite available at good prices now.
No. If the camera pulled the film back into the roll with a low battery, you wouldn't be able to take any pictures, rendering the film, useless. Don't worry about it, and if it REALLY bugs you, keep fresh batteries in it.
Even though it was cushioned somewhat the camera took enough damage to jam something. The flashing symbols are a generic error code it could mean the shutter, zoom, film transport, flash, or some combination of these system are not working (sorry but without tearing the camera apart I can't narrow the problem any further)
