The inside of my Speed Queen washer smells badly . It makes my clothes smell also , but not near as much as inside of the washer . What happened to cause this ?? Also , the detergent holder never completely clears of water in the bleach and fabric softner openings . I bought this matching washer/dryer approx. 10 days ago but didn't notice any smell until about 4 days ago . Drain hose had long crack in it and was removed , spliced and put back on by a friend . Could anything have happened in this process that would cause either of these things to occur ??

Front load washers seal up tight with door closed. This causes the smell. Leave the door open in between loads.

The detergent holder always holds a little water.

SOURCE: Bleach & Fabric softner tray not working.

Remove the drawer by pushing the tab at the top of the drawer and pull it out and check for an obstruction. They regualarly plug up with gummy fabric softenener. Try washing out with hot water and reinstall

Smell coming from AWN32 speed queen top loading washer

All washing machine "smell" when the lid is left closed for more than one day. If it is really bad it might be something inside the body of the machine or something caught under the agitator.
Inside the body work. Unscrew the three screws at the bottom of the front panel. Lift the bottom of the panel forward and up. Remove. Make sure the machine is unplugged and switched off before reaching into the body work. Look for something "smelly"
Agitator - switch off and unplug - depending on the model unscrew the top cap on the agitator. Some models do not have an screw cap although it might look so. Reach with both hands into the machine and grab the agitator at it bottom flanges hands opposite each other. Pull up hard - it does not let go easily- make sure it doesn't have a top screw cap. To replace just push back until it clicks or replace and tighten the top cap.

Smells very bad inside washer

It is usually down to a bacteria build up between the drum and the tub. The majority of appliances that suffer form this have been used mainly on 40 degree washes and with a biological detergent.
The best way to get rid of this smell is to place two tablespoons of washing soda or soda crystals in the detergent drawer and then run the appliance empty on the 90 degree wash. You may have to repeat this treatment several times before the smell goes but it will go eventually.

Washer smells bad

Whirlpool and Tide make a cleaner that you put into the washer and run it through a cycle. Front loaders get a build-up that cannot be cleaned by hand. Make sure you are using a detergent that is marked "HE". Do not overfill the detergent or softener cups. I've heard that other used a lot of bleach in a wash cycle to clear out the smell. Bleach is bad to use if you're on a septic system, though.

Clothes have a musty smell if left in the washer

Make shure to do a cleaning cycle. As well, wipe out the inside, the rubber gasket and the door when done washing for the day. We also have found that
leaving the door "Open" for several hours, when finnished, eliminates any future
smells.
