My LG Vu today decided to say "Insert Smartchip" and I only have the "emergency" button available. I have tunred it around and around, and nothing works, any other ideas?

if you are trying to use the phone with a sim card that you dont usually use with that phone it is most likely locked to another phone take it to your service provider and ask them to unlock it to use on your lg vu . If its your regular sim card then sim card reader is malfunctioning . you will need to have it fixed

I put my simm card in backwards and my phone said that. Try turning it around.

You may try default phone and security code to remove restrictions.
ur defalt phones codes is 12345 or 00000 u can use it
Default 4 Digit user code: 1234 or 0000
Default 6 Digit Security code: 123456 or 000000

type *#06# on your phone to get IMIE number

There could be a fault with the contacts on the USIM reader of your handset

Your smartchip is fried. You need to replace it and can get it from your carrier.

Turn your smart chip around. When inserted correct, you will be able to see the slanted corner of the chip.

if you take sim and battery out for about 15-20 minutes and boot up your phone, you should be fine, i talked to my stepdad, computer freak, he said it could be caused from me not ever shutting my phone off and it just getting hot

the smartchip is either not in correclty or maybe the phone doesnt read the smartchip

attempt to take the SIM card out and gently wipe it off (pay especial detail to the copper connectors on the under-side.) after that, give a gentle blow to the recieving area for the sim on the phone and place the sim back in the phone, power up, and hopefully this problem will be solved. this issue occurs often to myself and this seems to be a very simple solution.
