Well if you have adapter / charger connect it and use your laptop with it you dont need a battery with it. and ask toshiba service centre if they have one then buy it cuz 6 years are long time you are lucky that your battery works for that long.
regards and good luck

Laptop just dies, then will run fine again and die. Is it the battery? only a couple of years old if that.

Yes, the battery has aged. 2 years is the most what you would expect a battery to last so that's normal.

Keys died and pc shut downs

It's definitely not normal. Did you spill something onto the keyboard,
and did it leak through the keyboard into the "guts" of the computer?

Take the computer to a qualified technician, top test that the motherboard of the computer is still 100% working. If it is,
then pay the technician to replace the keyboard,

Is it still under warranty, maybe an "all-perils" warranty?

Trying to find keyboard replacement instructions

On the back of the laptop remove the battery and any screws under it, if you look just above the keyboard theres a seperate peice of plastic now remove any screws on the back that could potentially screw into it and remove it (theres normally clips aswell and sometimes you have to slide it either left or right first. Then theres normally a screw holding the keyboard in normally locted in the centre and 'sunk-in' deeper than the rest of them remove that and the keyboard should lift up, careful its still attatched via a zif connector, remove this by pulling up the little tags at the edges of the connector pulling it out (should come out easily) then you looking for either a single cell battery or a black thing in the shape of a battery with a black and a red wire coming out of it.

Acer laptop

Replace the keyboard. You should be able to plug in an external keyboard through your usb port.
