When I try to boot up by Dell Latitude D620, I get the message, "Error loading operating system."

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Can you get into safe mode? When you're starting the system, you should see a Dell screen. As soon as that screen disappears start tapping on the F9 key until you see a Windows menu. From that menu - can you select either "last known good configuration" or Safe mode? If you can get into safe mode or "last known good configuration" then it sounds like you're working with an Operating System issue. If you cannot get into either of these - you're either looking at a serious Operating System problem or a hardware issue.

How to restore my D620 to factory settings without a CD?

Hello there!

Well its impossible to restore any of todays laptops without their factory os dvd/cd. You could setup new operative system and make your laptop simmilar to what it was on factory settings, or you can search dell to send you that same cd/dvd on your post mail to your house.

I suggest you read http://www.dell.com/ and contact them in order to solve your problem. Hope i helped you! =)

Sincerely

How do i restore to factory settings without disk?

I assume you mean factory installation. You need the disks. Unless there is a recovery partition, unlikely on this model. Alternatively you could find an oem windows xp home or professional depending on what coa sticker is on the laptop and install that.

Dell Latitude D600 with boot-up error message

You operating system is corrupted meaning that your harddrive has failed or you got a bad virus. Only fix is having the operating system reinstalled and mostly likely that data is lost. Sorry to have to break the news to you and hope that you can get this resolved.

Dell latitude d620 needs factory restore

Apparently your model of laptop doesn't have a recovery partition. You're going to have to get out the Dell Operating System CD for your laptop, boot to the CD and reinstall Windows the old fashioned way. Make sure the product key on the laptop case is handy.
