Monitor comes on and says no input signal, then goes into sleep mode. Unplugging cables and replugging has worked in the past, but not this time.

Have you tried it on a different computer or tried a different monitor on that computer? You need to rule out the video card on your computer.

Get another known good cable and plug that in. If that fails, then plug into another known good computer. If that fails, then either your monitor is bad, or your video card is bad.

I have my acer p205h 20 inch monitor hooked up to my tobshiba laptop and it works great except it will not go into sleep mode when laptop goes into sleep mode the monitor goes to there is not signal check...

Unfortunately, this is a standard problem, as when your laptop goes into sleep mode, it shuts off power to the secondary monitor, without giving it the signal to go into sleep mode. You could try digging around your settings, but most likely you'll just need to turn off the monitor when you're not using it.

Monitor will not awake from sleep mode. Pilot light is amber when asleep. If the monitor is turned off pilot light goes from amber to off or black or nothing. Turning the monitor back on the pilot light...

That means your monitor is not receiving a signal from your video card.

A couple things to check:
*Make sure your cable is ok - unplug and replug the cable to see if it is a loose connection. Or try a different cable.

*Make sure your computer is not in sleep mode - Move your mouse or otherwise ensure your computer is awake and sending a video signal

*If you have another computer, try the monitor on the other system and see if it works.

HP monitor going into sleep mode right after turning it on

If it goes in to sleep mode, that means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer.
The things to try (from simplest to most complex) are:

  1. Make sure the computer is on and not in "sleep" mode -- press the "Caps Lock" key and see if it lights up the caps-lock light on the keyboard.
  2. Make sure the video cable is connected from the computer to the monitor (that the cable hasn't come loose on either end)
  3. If your monitor has multiple inputs, make sure it's set to the right (probably analog VGA or DVI) input
  4. If your computer has more than one video output (like a laptop with it's internal screen plus the external monitor) then make sure the external monitor is enabled
If none of those solve it, post a comment back here and we can dive in to the more complex tests

When I turn on the computer and the monitor, the monitor does not recognize a signal from the computer. I have tried restarting the monitor and the computer, unplugging all cables including the power...

kkjsr00, You must narrow down the faulty component!!! You must prove what is working and what is not working!! Beg, borrow, steal a "known-good" monitor to prove your pc is operating perfectly and will display the WIN-desktop screen on it. If your pc is A-ok then visit this web blog:
http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ kkjsr00, when strange and weird stuff starts to appear on the screen of "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit lcd displays the first place I would look at would be the units internal "switch-mode-power-supply/ccfl inverter supply".. No, No, No, unit not going to sleep!!! SMPS/inverter going into SHUTDOWN mode having detected a fault condition with itself or other circuit and is trying to save itself from catastrophic, nonrecoverable failure. e.g. smoke, fire, burn down house, etc. Do some reading in my profile and those of other fixya tech's and you will find more than enough info to help with your problem. Good luck with repair of "flakey" solder joint or bad electrolytic filter capacitor PLAGUE problem. Yes, you sure have a lot of reading to do!! 12fixlouie or old file is louie12fix also try "buddymc" , "budmrtn" profiles for more info.

No Input Signal

Dont Panic it is Nothing...
Your Monitor is safe...
If it say "no Input signal" - "Check VGA cable"

it means that the Monitor is finding signals from the computer, and the cable is either not connected or unsecurely connected.
