Zooming FE-280 camera - Worked great for about 2 weeks. While on vacation developed a problem - when you turn the camera on the lens goes in and out like it is trying to focus. Once it is through with the lens action when you try to set up for a picture (any mode) and focus on the subject the camera will not focus and then shuts down. Acts like the battery is dead but camera shows fully charged battery. Any ideas?
The exactttt same thing happened to me. I think i still have a warranty on it, and every body has been trying to help me, but it seems the camera is just retarded- and just needs to be replaced

You have a bad lens. Unless the camera is in warranty the cost of repairing the lens is higher than the value of your camera. The strange noise you hear is the lens motor trying to move the lens. One solution is to blow compressed air around the lens. Sometimes dust and dirt may jam the lens.
I have recently had the same problem. I sent my camera back to Olympus who very efficiently repaired it FOC and sent it back with an extended warranty. I gather this is a very common problem with this camera.
okayy well when it came out the first time i Grabbed the Lens and held it till the camera turned off and the lens stayed out i blew on it and i turned it on and it worked =)
I am on vacation and forgot my cd to be able to download pictures from the camera; FE- 280, to my pc notebook, that's a toshiba satellite with home vista. Is there a way I can download these pictures to my notebook without the software that I forgot to bring with me. It's not loaded on my notebook. Thanks. [email protected]
try zooming in on a object and see it it get clearer. the problem is your zoom lens motor is stuck or malfunctioning. This is a very common problem with digital cameras. sometimes you can take compressed air and blow around the lens and clear the blockage or lightly tap the camera lens down with it off to free up the focus gear. if it does now work it then needs tobe serviced or repaired. I had the same model last week for the same problem. That lens had tobe replaced. but try that first and see if it helps.
a mechanism in the camera is broken or shifted. this is hard to fix byurself because so small and 2 dangerous trying 2 open urself. get to neighborhood electronics or a repir shop.
same problem as described
