Microwave makes noise when on

All microwaves make some noise when running. Cooling fans, exhaust fans, turntable motor, transformer, and magnetron all make noise. I assume you mean some unusual noise. I need to know more about what kind of noise it is - a loud roar, a rattling sound, a high-pitch squealing sound, a "clunk-clunk" sound or what? By the way, a "klunk-klunk" sound is frequently caused by small debris stuck to the wheels of the turntable support tray. Try cleaning those wheels and the track they roll in.

Why does my fridge (whirlpool wren 58sl) sound like a helicopter on my kitchen, help, its only a month old

First of all being a month Old you have the privilege to get the warranty for a free work. But you can attempt to see if there is any vibration of the plastics that sympathetically vibrate with the compressor motor. If so you will need to use some damper double side sticker pads to close the gaps in-the plastics to shut off the noise. If however the noise is within the compressor then you must claim for service.

I have a JES1142 which I purchased only one month ago. The turning plate rotates both clockwise and counter clockwise. When it rotates counterclockwise it makes a grinding sound. Why does it rotate bot...

It's normal for the motor to turn both ways, that's because of how the motor is made. As for the grinding noise, there's no reason the motor itself would make more noise turning one direction than in the other. The noise might be coming from the roller ring under the glass turntable. One of its wheels might be binding when it tries to turn counterclockwise.

Here's a test. Take the glass tray and roller ring out of the oven. Put a microwave-safe container with a cup or so of water in the oven and start it. Stop the oven and start it again, and the motor should turn the other way. If not, repeat this until you've seen the plastic coupling turn both directions. Note whether you still hear the noise as the motor turns each way. If you do, then there is something wrong with the motor and it should be replaced. If not, the noise is coming from the roller.

In either case, if the oven is truly only a month old it's still under warranty. Since you are concerned about the noise and are worried that the oven is defective, contact the store where you purchased it and see if they will exchange it or take it in for service. If the store can't help you, refer to the owner's manual for the service procedure to follow.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

Buzzing sound when the vent fan is turned on. Sound is high pitched, and I can't tell if it's coming from the top or bottom. Any suggestions?

I don't know if this applies in your case but I have had fans with metal blades that would resonate with a high pitched ringing sound. It may also be that a blade is slightly contacting a metalic mesh filter cartridge.

My sharp microwave is under 6 months old. I was

It may be a shorted high voltage diode.

Since it's less than one year old, it would be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

You can contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) or visit them online.

Makes loud noise when running like a high pitched noise

You have a bad magnetron. Just replace the unit. It will cost more to fix than to buy a new one. There are great deals on new microwaves now.

Ringing noise from refrigerator

It's probably a dry bearing on either the compressor or the fan in the freezer. The evaporator, I believe it's called.

For more Goldstar / LG / L.G. help, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit here.

If it's under a year old, it's probably in warranty. You can get warranty info & find a local authorized servicer from there, too.

To order Goldstar / L.G. parts for a do it yourself repair, visit Vance Baldwin Electronics. You'll probably have to call them.

Kenmore 721.63662300, 1200W

The magnatron is shorting and overloading the high voltage transformer which is complaining with a load noise. Worth fixing if you do it your self. Magnatrons cast about $40 wholesale. There are just a few varieties of them that fit almos all brands. Try www.partstap.com
