Hi i have just had the mentioned error FF030C00 while using the programe DVDivine to burn a DVD. All went fine during the Authoring, when the process to burn started it hit 6% then stoped working my disk was ejected & the message Error FF030C00 was displayed. I noticed last night while i was away & when i came back my screen displayed DVDivine completed task successfuly, but no sign of my disk it was still inside.
Oh how i hate Vista Prem programs, not only am i having trouble with Acer Arcade Live but also Nti CD & DVD Maker, it is always closing the program prematurely when i am trying to burn disks, or simply the programe dissapears off my screen in the middle of recording info & i keep having errors poping up & then the program says it is closing due to errors. I also have pop-ups saying to alter the burn speed to slow, that there is a dirty lens, my god this machine is only 4 weeks old & taken care of !
Now the icing on the cake - it tells me i have Hardware Error.
I have updated drivers & programes
I am thinking it is just the model desktop i have because this is my second one since 02/01/08.
When i use the drive for disks it is making a noise as if it is a coffee grinder which has become worse...
Resolution.. I am waiting for an engineer to call & repair this one because it is a day over the 28 day exchange limit when i eventually spoke with customer service. Maybe he can give me some advice on this error & the others ?

The computer did has problems and Vista did for me the burning in the Spanich

DVD movies are usually copy protected and cannot be copied without a DVD copy program that removes the copy protection. You also need a DVD burning drive installed in your ASUS. First, try to refinalize the disc if it failed the first time by going into the edit menu. Sometimes finalization just fails the first time.
If you are recording on 2-hr mode, and the length of your recording is an 1hr 50 min or more, there will not be enough space left on the disc to finalize. Going forward, your best solution would be to record in 3- or 4-hour mode for every 2 hrs worth of recording (6-hour mode for 3-5 hours of recording, etc.). Just to quickly decipher recording modes: 2-hr mode (sometimes called SP Mode, depending on DVD player) will record about 2 hours worth of material on a standard blank DVD (but some extra space would be required for finalization); 4-hour mode would record 4 hours worth of material on a standard DVD; 6-hour mode would record 6 hours, etc.
As far as salvaging the recordings you have already made - load the burned, yet unfinalized DVD's into your computer. Copy the files onto the desktop or some easy-to-find location on your computer. Then use a program, free or otherwise (I personally reccomend Nero or Roxio), to re-burn the discs. The newer version of Nero automatically finalizes the disc, but some software requires you to select an option that allows you to "close disc" or "finalize" the disc. (In computer lingo, "closing" means the same thing as "finalizing").
Most dell machines do no come with dvd rewriting as standard. They only come with cd rewriting capability. Unless you specifically requested it as an add on to the spec it probably just has the ability to pay dvd's.
Most internet cafe's will have a machine with a dvd rewriter if you really need to copy a dvd
