Is there any way to rebuild the C: partition with the available space ? 15 GB ? Could i create a new partition (Z:), copy all what i have in the C: drive, switch the map letters and boot ? Perhaps, i could get in troubles, but if someone tried something similar.... we never know. Thank You, Luís

Because here i'm thinking in less downtime possible, as this server works 24/24.

Hi, to partition a drive you would lose all information on it,
for example if i had
c: 40gb
d: 40gb
if i delete the c: partition i could make 2 partitions of for example 20gb without losing the information on d:
but for what you have you would be better deleting both partitions and recreating as one big one or to your preferences, either way you will have to install windows again, as windows will not work copying it from c: to d: .

Also remember to save your partition data well in advance.
In a RAID 5 config, you need at least 3 drives (you can have more however). A small part of every drive is then reserved for recovery data for the other drives. So two drives together hold all the data needed to restore a 3rd drive.
The Raid Controllers in the Dell Poweredge Servers are hot swappable. So you can just pull the faulty disk and then insert a new replacement drive in the same slot (Needs to be the same type and size or bigger. However, if the disk is bigger than the other 2, then only the size of the two other disks will be used on the new drive). The Raid controller will then see that there is a new disk and automatically start the recovery process. You will be able to see this when you open the Controller software. Once the recovery is done, the RAID 5 will be fully functional again.
While one of the disks is faulty or missing the two remaining disks will continue to work, but at the severely degraded performance. After the rebuild the performance will be back to the way it was before.
The rebuild can take more than an hour, depending on the disk sizes used.
There is also an option on some Controllers to select one drive as a "spare". Then you insert one more disk and set it as spare. It will not start working unless one of the other disks in the Raid fails. That's when it is used automatically as a replacement.
It looks like you have two arrays here. The first one being a mirrored RAID array and has only one disk. This means that the other disk has failed in some sort. This does not mean that the drive is bad, just the RAID failed for some reason. You will need to rebuild the RAID if you want to maintain the same level of redundancy.
You can just attempt a rebuild the RAID to the same drives but if this fails you will want to replace the bad drive. In order to do this you will need to make sure you can tell which drive is which. You do not want to mirror the bad drive to the good one.
If attempting a rebuild to the existing drive does not work or is not an option (because the failed drive could really be bad), you will need to determine which physical drive needs to be replaced. You may be able to hot-swap the drive but if you can power things down, that is always safest. Once the new drive is installed, you can rebuild to it and all should be well after that.
Have you used SCSI drives? I think it should have 80 pins. What was the SIZE of the HDD? You must have the EXACT SAME SIZE for all the Available Hard Drives. Its RAID. You must install (2 or 3 or what ever the number) hard drives with exact the same capacity. IF you have used/ are using 40 GB then you have to use the exact same size. You cannot CHANGE the Size. Then the Raid Array will Fail. If you are using RAID 5 or any similar technology then No Chance.
And you must Launch the "Rebuild Array".
If you have errors while Rebuilding: I would suggest updating the firmware on the remaining drives as there may be an issue with SCSI timeout errors that caused your disk to fall off its array. Use a bootable CD and use partition magic 8.2 program for this purpose. You can change any desired format without data loss and also resize without any data loss. It will work 100% and guranateed beter work.
Use any linux bootable distro, like puppy (100 MB ) Slax ( 200 MB) or ubuntu to make a live boot, or use any pc which has linux installed can format your USB to its full capacity.
Odds of finding that drive new are slim to none but you can use ANY hard drive of at least same capacity to replace it. In fact as a data recovery specialist I always recommend my customers use several different brand/model drives in their arrays and simply elect to use the smallest one as the size for RAID on the others as this greatly minimizes the chance you will ever have multiple mechanical failures in a short timeframe.
Feel free to replace it with anything 400 or bigger and your raid should be able to assign an appropriate sized partition to the drive while it rebuilds itself.

You don't say whether or not your os is on the RAID 5 partition. Assuming that it is (for performance reasons, this is not recommended) then you should check to see if you have the option of configuring a separate raid configuration on your raid card (e.g. do you have a card with more then one RAID channel?) If this is so, I would create a separate RAID 1 array and install the OS just on that. Then you can mount the RAID 5 array with your data intact. Once you're up and running, you can remove the old OS partition, as it's no longer needed.
