Hi, This is Mike. My GE spacesaver xl1400 is shutting off as if it has lost AC power seconds after hitting the start button. The last couple of times it reset itself and now its dead. (power source is ok). Thanks

Probably is the fan tapping something. Power it down/DISCONNECT power. pull unit and if there is a cover, remove it. look for the convection fan and see if it free-spins. should find spot where it is hitting and could be adjusted.
Theoretically JVM1400-series microwaves (XL1400 is a meaningless number they put on the ovens) can be used on a counter top, but it's really not safe because it has no feet, and it may slide and fall off the counter.
Also, it will probably not set level on a counter.

I solved the problem by buying a new microwave and it was not a GE. I feel that GE should have had a recall on this problem, since it seemed to be a major problem in their system. I will never buy another GE product.
AC outlets are only marginal when new and that unit can draw well over 10 amps.
If the contacts are failing, the unit will think it has been disconnected, killing off the clock setting too.
If that doesn't help, try plugging another high power appliance, an iron, toaster or coffee maker, into the same outlet used for the GE to see if they behave normally.
if you are as lucky as i was...i have a ge spacesaver model jvm130...same problem. first unplug unit and check fuse on the "power control module". if fuse is ok...unscrew the screws holding the "power control module" in place...carefully tilt module and see if a solder
joint needs to be re-soldered. my problem was the solder joint under the front plug (5 large wire plug). you may have to unplug the three connectors to the board to get access to bottom. this is the second time i had to re-solder...last one was several years ago though. best of luck
