What is causing the drain pump to continue running

I have a GE Profile dishwasher GSD4930X66. I'm getting a C1 error code. Checked all of the drain lines, the air gap is clear, pressed the Reset button and the disposal is empty.
What happens is, when in Normal Cycle, all the water pumps out in about 1 minute 5 seconds but the pump keeps on running until the C1 error is displayed, then the pump stops at 2 plus minutes and the washer moves on to the next part of the cycle. C1 remains on the Display until I press the Reset button.
If I press the Reset button and then start the washer in the Rinse & Hold cycle, all the water pumps out in about 1 minute 5 seconds, the motor runs for about 15 to 20 seconds then turns off with no error.
What is causing the drain pump to continue running after all the water has been pumped out?
Thanks for your help.
Walt

C1 - Partially Blocked Drain - This error will occur when dishwasher was unable to pump out water in less than 95 seconds. Check drain line for debris and blockage. If clear, check for a restricted drain valve in the pump. Check the pressure sensor for correct operation as it sounds like it may be defective and thinks that the machine is still full of water after it has emptied.

My GE dishwasher won't stop running what do I do

Check the internal of dishwasher because maybe you have leakage. This leakage stops the program and causes the continuing operation of the drain pump.

My ge profile dishwasher, pdw7800, just keeps running in the wash cycle

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

My GE profile dishwasher is not draining, is it fixable?

Yes, it is fixable. I would fix check to make sure the float on the inside of the unit is not stuck (not a probable, but easily checked). Then I would pull the unit out and check the pump. If something is clogging the pump intake then it wouldn't drain. If there isn't something blocking the pump intake, then it is probably the pump itself.

The pump on my GE Profile dishwasher is not draining.

If it is the last cycle only it is not the pump. It is a wiring or timer issue. Most likely the timer.

Blocked drain message on GE GSD2800 dishwasher

pull the bottom tray out, in the back portion of the center of the dish washer there is a plastic screen looking thing, you will need to take a 1/4 inch nut driver and take out the screw pull off the cover and clean out the drain,, there is probly some food particals in there , it does havea small blade inside there to help sut up fine food that gets thru but it doesn't do it all the time ,, make sure you put the cover back on before runnig the unit

Control Module?

Sounds like a dishwasher.. You didn't say or give a model number. Dishwasher that do not drain are usually caused by clogged up drain hoses, often right where it connects to the drain or disposer under the sink. In some cases, there's a separate drain pump that is defective, in other cases, there's a drain solenoid, and in others a drain impeller that's broken or clogged. All depends on the model.
