LE46M86BD SAMSUNG LCD Picture issues (turning off after 5 secs)

When turning my TV on the picture shows breifly for about 5 seconds then disapears, the sound stays on though (screen completely blank). I've checked all the cables and connections they all seem fine (this happens with both PS3 and XBOX360 also not just SKY). My TV model is a sumsung LE46M86BD (no backlights).

Please could one of you experts help me as this is doing my head in. Everything was fine last night, but I have noticed over the last few days it has been flickering on occasions. I read that this could be a power supply problem but unsure on what this actually means (new power lead or does it need a technician called out.

This is for the TV model LE46M86BD.

    Thanks.

We also get a buzzing quiet buzzing noise when turning telly on. I have also flashed a touch at the screen and I can see a very faint image.

Was power supply, cost me around £80.00 (included call out charge).

    Cheers for your help.

You will need a tech to isolate the fault. could be power supply board or the main board but I suspect it is the lcd panel itself that is failing.

Samsung LE46M86BD no picture but sound complete reset fix

You'll need a big and a small screw driver, soldering iron (with accessorizes) and 3 or more 1000 uF resistors from your tech store retailing some 5 bucks or so.

Take the whole thing apart and look for damage. On the main print card one or more resistors might be burned out. Replace them. Cables might be damaged.

Unplug everything, even the things stuck with glue, if you can manage. Don't leave a single cable connected.

Vacuum for dust and give it a good general clean.

This happened for me in the summer time like for so many others. I remember the sky was brown that day and it was going from humid to moist.

Place the opened TV next to something really warm until its bone dry. I placed mine next to my radiator for a week.

And for each day that passes remember how you would love for that awesome silver screen to come back into your life.

Assemble everything with care. Check the power cable, clean it for gunk. Try degaussing it with a magnet. Replace if you can. Get a new external power cable. Check connection to power grid and try to simplify.

Cross your fingers and pray. Push the button.

Rejoice.

I am writing this to you on that very screen and the picture looks goooood..

Do you think there's a time switch on the board. Of course you do. I dare you guys to find it.

I bought the total dealers repair kit. I am starting an experiment to keep this TV alive for as long as possible.

The monetary system requires you to throw out everything at least once every 3 years.

Hi there
I would go to menu on the remote , from there to picture go down the list, if you do not find anything there to help you. Go to Support and to the E manual .

I had the same problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tK7zFBBU6p4&feature=related We're not alone - its a common problem with Samsung. I watched a few of these and was able to see the bad capacitors, de-soldered and replaced them for under $5.00.

Samsung T.V. goes on for 30 seconds then no picture

If this is a flat panel LCD tv, this is a sure sign that the panel itself is bad. I have seen this before. Tv comes on works fine then within 5 minutes goes blank.

Sound but no pic on a sumsung lcd tv LE46M86BD

if the tv has backlights it's probably the T-con board, if no backlights it's the power supply

My Sony tv CRT

If it's between 5-10 secs, that's normal. You will turn the tv on and hear a loud (buzz/hum) that is the picture tube firing up, once it's fired up, it has a few more seconds until your picture comes up fully. That is about 5-10 secs from pushing the power button.

If it's taking longer than that, your picture tube may be going out.

I had a 36XBR250 and it took about 10 secs to fire up and show a picture, and it was 5 1/2 years old.
