It might be the internal battery. remove the battery holder and remove the screws on the metal plate. gently lift the plate and replace the battery. remember the different length of the screws.

What year was the Minolta Maxxum 7000, serial number 16043985? Thanks, Karla

I do not know for certain. You might find that answer on the Yahoo Minolta groups.
The Maxxum 7000 was introduced to the US market in 1985. Sold as the Alpha 7000 in Japan and Dynax elsewhere, it was replaced by the 7000i in a couple years. Then the 700, the 700xi, the 700si, the 70 and the 7 was the last film based 7 series. There
They also made 8000i, 800si, etc. The 9 series was the Minolta Professional cameras and they had the toughest bodies, weatherproofing, higher shutter speeds, and more.
Later models introduced better autofocus, better exposure options, wireless flash, faster film advance, etc.

Is the Minolta Maxxum 7000 capable of using infrared film?

goneoutthewi,

once the shutter is closed or the shutter open and the mirror is up no light strikes the film except the image. don't forget to use the red markings on the lens as infra-red focuses on a different plane than visible light.

Minolta Maxxum 5000

I had the same problem with a maxxum 7000. Traced it to a bit of corrosion in the battery pack. It let just enough power through to run the computer, but upon releasing the shutter, it shut off.

You might check that. corrosion can be cleaned with vinegar.

Minolta Maxxum 7000

ONline manual from Minolta says "winding motor problem", try removing battery and reinstalling. It didn't work for me though.

Minolta maxxum 7000 troubleshoot camera wont take pictures

There are several possible reasons, it could be the body or the lens. Check the shutter blades without film. Are they smooth and in place, (flat)? It could also be related to the film, a mis-load of the roll. The lens could have some failure, possibly try another.
