LG Flatron W2234S Monitor Monitor goes black and displays LG Logo with an Energy Star icon next to it for about 3 seconds then returns to normal. The transition occurs at varying intervals but appears that something may be wrong with the monitor. Currently blinking about every couple minutes.
It displays normally otherwise
Ahh the same thing has happened to my monitor! Mine unfortunately is 1 month over warranty. Apparently this is a common problem with this model!
Testimonial: "Excellent advise and many thanks. But it seems that this model does suffer some problems with this fault and LG knows it."
Exactly the same prob to me as well....apparently its a defect wit this monitor
I had the same problem, and my desktop power saving settings were set to: Never - Never - Never.
Still the monitor went black all the time, and I was unable to restart. My monitor is LG Flatron W2453TQ, and my graphic card is Zotac GT 430 (1 GB).
My problem was solved the moment I switched from the iriginal DVI cable to a VGA cable [from the VGÅ connectin point on the monitor to the DVI connection point on my graphic card (using a VGA-DVI plug) ,
Maybe the problem was in the DVI cable - I don't know - but now my computer is working just fine again. :-)

Hi, its' the vga part of the monitor is overheating, cause the cpu in it to loop.
It if not under warrenty then get the following off google or ebay

The problem is more likely on the computer end rather then the monitor. It would seem you are loosing the video signal from your PC. Possible causes are a loose video cable connection, a video card that is going bad, or misconfigured power saver settings. Check your cables first. If that is not the problem then you need to check your power saver setting. You can do this by right clicking the windows desktop, when the dialogue box pops up select OPTIONS at the bottom to open Display Properties. Display Properties is where you set your screen saver, themes, video settings etc.. Next, click the Screen saver tab, at the botton you will see the Energy Star logo and to the right a POWER button. Click on the power button. Set monitor hard disks and system standby to NEVER. This will prevent your system from turning off any devices. If none of the suggestions work, send me a note and I will help with more detailed diagnostics.

Check the cable and make sure it is plugged in securely at both the monitor and PC. If the cable is connected properly, then the problem must be in the monitor itself. You could try setting the input mode manually on the monitor - the default should be auto - you could set it to VGA or DVI whichever your case is and see if it helps.

Usually answered in minutes!
I called LG and they are bringing me a whole new monitor, since it was a problem they knew and wasn't worth to be fixed under warranty (its 10 months old). So I guess Monday it is fixed.
However your solution did not work for me, but thanks anyhow.
