I had this problem with my Orange Hero too - there is a fix but it's quite obscure.
When you're inside the "choose an alarm sound" menu and scrolling through the list,
if you press the volume buttons on the side of the phone then you can manually adjust
the alarm sound (mine was set to 0). Not sure what causes it to set to zero,
presumably when you take the phone off silent mode it sometimes fails to update the
alarm as well? This still needs looking at because it means the alarm volume resets
to zero of its own accord, but it can at least be managed by manual readjustment.
Hope this helps!

P.S. It might also be worth noting that when I was having this problem, no
third-party alarm apps would play the stock alarm sounds either.

Alarm volume is set to silent by default. when setting your alarm, go into the list where you can pick your alarm sound, and use the volume control to set it louder. there is no other place on the phone to set the alarm volume.

When you have set the alarm, select "Alarm sound". Pick another sound than already selected and change the volume on the volume-buttons on the left of the phone. This worked with mine!

I could only fix this by uninstalling all of the extra applications. Then removing the battery for 30 minutes. I was also having problems not receiving text message. This appears to fix both problems. I will reinstall certain applications to see which one created a problem. However was probably the use of one application after a 2nd application that caused it

SOURCE: Hi, Sprint HTC-Hero. Alarms won't work overnight,

I don't want to question your common sense, but have you changed the AM/PM setting for your alarms? I am trying to think of anything that could be the cause, but your alarms work when it set it for a few minutes later, this is the only setting I can think of.

Let me know otherwise, and we can try to find the cause.

For the past two days, my alarm has been silent and I can't figure out why. I've tried putting the volume up, resetting the alarm sound and the alarm but nothing is working and the alarm still won't sound....

The setting for the alarm is actually independent from the rest of the phone volumes. When you go the set the alarm and get to the alarm sound list, use the volume rocker on the side of the phone to set the alarm volume.

For some reason, the Hero has a habit of screwing around with the volumes for the alarm. It happened to me a few times where my alarm got muted.

Thanks for looking and good luck.

From 10 pm to 6 am the alarm will not sound. It goes off but no noise is made. The square around the time is also black when you try to set it between those times.

the colour just lets you know if it's night or day. i have to choose my alarm sound and turn up the volume while it is giving me a sample of the sound to get it loud enough to hear. Have to this each time I set an alarm. it's pain but I can't find any other way to do it yet. Let me know if this works.

No alarm clock sound

The alarm volume is muted by default, and every now and then, it will reset itself to mute. I haven't figured out what causes it to reset (possibly reboots?).

Anyway, in order to set your alarm volume, you will need to get to the list of alarm sounds. From this list, you can adjust the volume of your alarms using the volume rocker on the left side of the phone.

There is no other place to set your alarm volume.

Good luck.

The alarm clock will go off but it won't sound.

This happened to me when I first got the phone. I saw the alarm go off, but there was no sound. What people don't realize, and what the manual doesn't tell you is that the alarm sound is independent of the main sound. And it is off by default.

When setting your alarm, go to the screen where you can pick your alarm sound. Use the volume rocker on the left side of the phone to put the volume up to your level. This is the only place that I know of to set the alarm volume.

Audio

go to "market" download "audio manager" or"volume control" apps, they will give you a shortcut on the screeen and you can change volume for lots of stuff(ex:system vol, ringer vol, notif vol, media vol, alarm vol, in-call vol, etc.) good luck

My alarm does not make any sound when it goes off, it vibrates but no audible alarm. Just stopped working a day ago, worked for the first two weeks I had the phone.

there may be a bug where the alarm volume resets itself to silent when your turn the phone off and back on.

just go back to the alarm tones list and adjust the volume back up. see if this works for you.
