How do you use PS3 and DVD player with the Toshiba 32Dtu2 LCD TV?

The PS3 can be hooked up to the tv using either a HDMI cable or the old RCA (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you are having problems viewing a picture or hearing sound, here is some trouble shooting you might want to try.

Connect the PS3 using both the HDMI and RCA cables. select the HDMI input on your tv. turn on the PS3. If you cant see a picture, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps (this will take about 15 seconds). This resets the PS3 to the old RCA cables. Select the RCA input on your tv. Hopefully you can see the image and hear the PS3 now. Go to the settings on the PS3 and change the display settings to output video through the HDMI. Remember, your tv can only go as high as 1080i resolution, so you wont see anything if you select the 1080p resolution.

If this didn't work, you might have a bad signal though the HDMI cable. Unplug the tv and PS3 for atleast 30 minutes, and then connect the PS3 to the tv before you turn either one on.

If this doesn't help, then you might have a HDMI cable that isn't recognized by either your PS3 or your tv. Try replacing your HDMI cable.

Hope this helps!

Why will my ps3 not workwhen conected via multi-av cable to the RCA jacks?it does work conected to a hd tv via hdmi

When you use an HDMI cable with your PS3, the system is outputting the signal in a digital format. You need to tell it to switch back to displaying in an analog format to use the RCA jacks, otherwise it won't work. To do this, turn off your PS3. Then, once it's off, press and hold down the power button on the system. After a few seconds, it will beep and reset the output signal back to analog. Just make sure only your RCA cables are plugged in when you do this. Hope this helps!

PS3 No signal to the TV

To solve this, when the ps3 is in standby (solid red light), just hold the power button. It should beep on, then beep again in about 5 seconds. This will automatically search for the optimal audio video output. if if beeps on then turns off, just try again, it takes 1 or 2 tries sometimes. the reason this is happening is because your ps3 is set to one AV output, ex. composite(red yellow white), HDMI, and then you changed the cable to a different one. another way to fix it is plug both cables, HDMI and composite, into the tv and ps3, then go to settings and change the output to the desired one.

Av connections not giving signal to tv

you have to manually change the output in the settings menu back to ANALOG Using an HDMI TV or monitor 1st, when you select RCA, or AV output and restart, it will work, but when you switch back, you have to change it (back to HDMI output) on the analog monitor, or use analog TV inputs, then reboot PS3 and connect HDMI.
I do not know why Sony did not make this switch automatic and self scanning on boot, but alas I have had the same issue, so I know this is your problem, not the AV cables.

Please give a fixya rating if you find this solves your problem, Thanks for the question

No signal from ps3 to TV

There is a hard reset in your manual...do what that says with the HDMI plugged in and it will automatically find that signal.

My ps3 only works with hdmi cables?

Did you try holding down the Power button until you heard 3 beeps? It is not uncommon for the video output to exceed the resolution of different television. This hard reset feature was added to troubleshoot such a problem, factory resetting the video settings.

Hdmi connection doesnt work on ps3

By you saying that you have a new cable & tv, I assume you had the console conected tru composite before (red, white & yellow rca cable). This is what you need to do: Connect the PS3 to the tv with HDMI cable only, do not use the composite cable at the same time, reset your PS3 by pressing and holding the power button, when the power is off, for about 7 to 10 secconds, it would cicle from power off, on, then off again, it would also give you 2 sets of beeps, after the power is off, turn your tv on, make sure you select HDMI input on it, then turn your PS3 on, the console would set itself to the best resolution available on your tv. Give it a try!
