Stainless steel is rusty/blotchy

Help! My stainless steel Jenn Air Dishwasher has rusty spots on the outside handle and the area just above the handle on the outside door is all blotchy. I use a stainless steel cleaner but it doesn't help. What can I do? Should this be happening on an $1100 dishwasher?

I would try a product called Evapo-Rust! Evapo-Rust will remove the rust without damaging the stainless steel finish on your Dishwasher. After you remove the rust you will then want to apply a rust inhibitor to keep it from coming back. You can go to a website called http://www.rustremover.biz or http://www.nebraskanhotrod.com to learn more about Evapo-Rust. You will also find that they sell a water based rust inhibitor that will work to keep the rust from flashing back for up to 6-months.

Jenn Air makes great products, don't blame them. Your type of stainless steel is a consumer grade that has less nickel-chromium in the mix making it affordable to the consumer. The surface needs to be "pacified", DeBruce Polish will REMOVE THE RUST and PACIFY the surface. We get Debruce Polish at debrucepolish.com.

The door is getting rusty. I believed that stainless steal didn't rust. Is there a way I can remove the spots?

Normally these appliances use brushed steel which gives a stainless steel look.

Get a magnet and run it on the sheet. If it sticks then it definitely is not stainless steel.
However, with wear and tear stainless steel surface does break down causing rust to start.

To remove rust go to this site.

What is the best product to use to clean the outside of my dishwasher. It is stainless steele..We bought this from someone who had stored it new for a ;year in his garage. There are some dirty spots and...

Mineral oil or baby oil on a soft cloth is very effective. A basic spray on furniture polish can be used but make sure it's wax-free and not coloured.

Test a small area at the side or back - anywhere that wont be seen - before attempting the front.

The handle is loose, how do I tighten it

You need to remove the inner door panel to access the screws that hold the door handle in place. I had to do this about a year ago - the screws are located around the outside edge of the door. Be careful; the inner parts are plastic, so take your time. It's a fairly easy repair.

Possibly an element or thermostat problem. The dishwasher rely's on the thermostat to tell it wether it can progress through the cycle or not.The washer will stay washing in the one spot until desired temperature is reached then the washer will progress on.
