Mine did the same thing. i bet you have kids. kids are really hard on touch pads. the touch pad itself isnt too horribly expensive. id try a new one of those. teach the kids "gentle touch". cheaper in the long run.

Maytag Microwave over the counter -error code SE

Banging on the control panel got it working would indicate a bad connection inside, not a short. Could be anything from a bad wire connection to a cracked solder joint on the main board.

The touch pod on my microwavw 9je635 wont do anything when i press the boutos for timing fuction

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad and control panel assembly are probably defective.
Touchpad

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad might be at fault. Generally speaking, if the dishwasher display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.
User Control and Display Board

If the microwave buttons don't work the user control and display board are most likely defective and will need to be replaced. If some of the buttons work and some don't, it is more likely a touch pad problem and the touch pad will need to be replaced.
Main Control Board

If the microwave buttons don't work the main control board is most likely defective and will need to be replaced. If some of the buttons work the touch pad is likely the problem. If none of the buttons work the problem may be in the main control board.1_24_2013_5_54_53_pm.gif1_24_2013_5_55_10_pm.jpg

The right Half of the touch panel does not work and there is no power when start is pressed. Fans and lights work

Without a model number, I can only give you a general answer, but feel free to contact me with the full model number and detailed symptoms for a free estimate and/or do it yourself tips and part numbers, etc.

The problem is a failed keypad, which can occur due to manufacturing weaknesses, direct spraying of spray cleaners, heat or steam or grease accumulation due to failure to use the hood vent exhaust fan while cooking on the stove top, or just poor design.

Either way, you would have to replace the membrane keypad or outer door panel or control panel frame, depending on model.

My TAPPAN Microwave Oven Model Type: TM5430 B only shows S1 in the display and it doesen't react if i push any othetr buttons. What can i do ???

Unplug the unit, let it sit for a minute to clear power from the control board then plug it back in. If the display still shows S1, that could indicate a bad touch switch on the front panel, a bad connection between the touch panel and the control or a failure in the control. Unless you can get parts cheap and fix it your self, it's not worth paying for the repair.

Amana rfs12sw2a....1200watt The soft touch buttons don't respond except for number 6....

Sounds like a bad control board. First just check and make sure all of your connectors are in tight. Part numbers for the control board is 53001806 you could have a bad touch panel. rare and not typical but can happen part number for that is 53002019. I would probably buy both of those parts plug in the new panel into the existing control board and see of everything works. if so replace the touch panel and send the control board back. If it still does not work then swap the control board and send the touch panel back. hope that helps

Half of control panel lights/numbers are out

The control touch panel basically has partly burned out and so you would have to replace the whole panel.
Repairclinic.com should have a replacement, just use your model number to search for one.

Let me know how this works out for you.

try opening up the control panel, disconnect the connector ribbon coming from control panel and connected 2 control board by just pulling it out and cleaning end of connector ribbon and iserting it back.some times this works.if not then 4 sure touch panel needs to be replaced.

After pressing the TIME button, the number pad does not react.

A hard reset, that is, removing the unit from the electric source and restarting it after a few seconds, solved the problem.
