If you still have the original installation disc and key, it should be no problem to reinstall the software, just insert the disc and follow the onscreen prompts.
If you are missing just the product key, the trial version can be installed and you can contact microsoft for information on your old key or a replacement.
If you are missing the disc, you can download the online version from microsoft's website and install with your key.

Make sure you download the driver's from the manufacturer or install the software from the disc if one came with the device.

You will have to use a windows disc to repair the system. simply insert the disc, and hit any key when it promts to hit any key to boot from disc. window will detect during the process that windows is installed and promt you to install or recover. select recover and follow the steps.

Clean the disc, take contact salution or what I do use men's cologn on the disc side and use a lens cloth or a non abrasive cloth to clean the disc and try installing it again. If that doesnt work, check for scratches and that could be the reason it wont install.

There are two ways to install the sound

1. Use the Motherboard CD or Drivers and Utilities that came with your computer, just run it and it will install sound driver for you if its missing

2. Manually install it on Device Manager. Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager. Under Device Manager, look for Sound and Video Controller. Right-click the one with yellow exclamation mark and click on update driver. You can choose update online or browse manually. If you browse manually, you need to use the Drivers and Utilities Disc that came with your PC. If you don't have it, download the driver online searching the web.

after you update the driver ..check also the hardware update for microsoft...do custom update when you access windows update

hmmm...that is unfortunate...only way to do this is with a recovery disc...

The installer for Studio 12 (upgrade version) includes a "Transfer Files" option which permits you to install previous bonus discs from Studio 10 and 11 and transfer to 12. However, you have install 12 first (of course).

For those with Vista 64bit systems, Studio 10 will not install on your Vista 64bit OS pc. However, if you have the Studio 10 disc, you can purchase the Studio 12 upgrade version. During the installment process, you will be directed on how to utilize the Studio 10 disc to advance the installation process.
