Download the program you want to use or copy the program disc onto a USB flash drive - then install it from the flash drive. You can also download several free antivirus programs such as Bitdefender or Sophos online and install that way.

Acer Aspire 7741Z missing CD ROM drivers. Motherboard issue, maybe?

Usually, if the motherboard (meaning BIOS here) goes bad, you will lose all access to all drives. Since the CD-ROM and Recovery partitions have been targeted here, I would say you should be looking hard for a nasty virus or bot. They often attack by blinding your antivirus software, then they disable the CD-ROM (where you would reload from) and the recovery partition (same thing). This keeps them alive longer while you try to figure out what's wrong. I'm not saying that it COULDN'T be hardware or OS related, but first I'd run Malwarebytes or a third party A/V program to be sure that nothing else is wrong first.

Hi

I would go to

start

scroll down to find the cd/dvd and un install it

then restart the laptop and hopefully on restart
windows will find new hardware and re install the cd/dvd drive correctly

i hope this sorts it for you

also have you checked in your programs to see if recovery is in there
as some laptops have it built in on the hidden part of the hard drive

I donot know to download kaspersky antivirus

Select the operating system you are using from the tabs located in the center top area. The default tab selected is "Windows. " The other tabs are "Mac," "Mobile" or "Webware."
Click on the "Security Software" link found on the left side of the page under "Windows (Mac, Mobile or Webware) Software." This opens a webpage with all of the obtainable security applications. Click on the "Antivirus" link located on the top left to view all of the antivirus programs.
Find free antivirus programs and narrow your selections further. On the left side under "License type," choose "Free" to open a page with only free licensed software. Divide the antivirus programs by your specific Windows version. Click on your exact Windows edition you have under the "by Operating system" categories listed on the left.
Sort the antivirus programs shown. Use the drop-down arrow next to "Sort by:" to change the way the free antivirus programs are listed. The default setting is "Downloads last week," but this can be changed to "Date Added," "Product Name," Editors' Rating," "User Rating" or "Total Download." Change the amount of results shown per page from 10 to either 20 or 30, if desired.
Review the antivirus programs. The ones shown first by default are the Sponsored programs followed by the Editor and User rated antivirus programs. Each one can be reviewed by clicking on the name, which is a link. This opens a page with details about this specific antivirus program. Read over several different ones to find one that is suitable.
Download the free antivirus program. Click on the "Download Now" link or the green button to begin download. Click on "Run" to download and run the antivirus program setup. This will only take a moment. Follow the directions provided to download and install your free antivirus program.

Windows wont start says file is missing or corrupt no disc drive to load cd rom, eeepc 1005ha

Try rebooting, tap F8 when splash screen appears ( just tap after the computer starts). When you see the multiboot menu come up, scroll down and choose "last Known Good Configuration". If this does not work, reboot and try "safe Mode", Run all your antivirus programs if you can.

you can download a number of software titles if you have internet access. There are many ways to get free software, just google it. If you have a usb port you may be able to use a flash drive (thumb drive, pen drive, etc.) to install software from another source.

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from the CD
  1. Insert the Norton AntiVirus CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the installation program appears, then click Browse the CD
    • If the installation program does not appear, then double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, and then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
  3. Double-click the MSI folder.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the WIN9x folder.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click the WINNT folder.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the Instmsi.exe file.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe if you have Windows 2000/XP.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
  7. After the rollback has finished, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.
Follow the instruction in Reinstalling your Symantec program after a failed installation or after you see error messages to start the computer without any programs running on startup and then reinstall your Norton program.

If these steps do not fix the problem, then go on to the next section.

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from a downloaded version
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Find (or Search) > Files or Folders.
  2. Ensure that "Look in" is set to the drive where you downloaded Norton AntiVirus, and that "Include subfolders" is checked.
  3. In the "Named" or "Search for..." box, do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, type the following:

      instmsi.exe
    • In Windows 2000/XP, type the following:

      instmsiw.exe
  4. Click Find Now or Search Now.
You might see many files with this name. Look for the file with this name that is located in either the Symantec_Norton_AntiVirus_2003 or the your Windows temporary file location depending on your version of Norton AntiVirus.
  5. In the Search Results window, do one of the following, depending on your version of Windows:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click Instmsi.exe.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
This will undo the changes that were made to your system during the first failed installation.
  7. After the process finishes, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.
Follow the instruction in Reinstalling your Symantec program after a failed installation or after you see error messages to start the computer without any programs running on startup and then reinstall your Norton program.

Programme does'nt open

here is the solution for your problem :
A problem has been identified when installing early pressings of the CD-ROM on machines running Windows 98 or Windows ME in conjunction with certain antivirus software and firewalls. The installation appears to be successful but the OALD 7 Compass program fails to launch with no error message given, or with a message "License data invalid".
Should you encounter this problem:
  1. Download oald7.zip (4.5 megabytes)
  2. Unzip oald7.zip to extract the oald7.exe program
  3. Ensure your OALD 7 Compass CD-ROM is in your CD-ROM drive
  4. Replace the old oald7.exe file on your computer (this is usually found in c:\Program Files\Oxford\OALD7) with the new oald7.exe file you have downloaded
  5. You should now be able to run the OALD 7 Compass software
If the download doesn't work, we can send you this file on a CD-ROM - please email us , and tell us your full postal address. You will need to copy the update file to your hard drive to install it, as you will need your OALD 7 Compass CD-ROM in your CD-ROM, as above.
Please email [email protected] if you require further help.
