Usually the simple way to clean old ink from heads is to get a container of alcohol from the drug store and either using a Q-tip or paper towel soaked - wipe the print surface of the head to remove the old ink, then run the head clean utility once after. If you cannot reach the head surface, move the print head to change ink position, unplug the printer and fold and lay the paper towel soaked in alcohol under the head and manually move the head back and forth by hand to clean it. You may need several sheets of towel and alcohol to do this. Fold the paper thick enough so it will touch the head surface to clean.

How do I access the waste ink tank/pads for an Epson Stylus DX8450 printer

The waste ink tank/pads for an Epson Stylus DX8450 printer are located at the bottom of the printer's housing, beneath the print head. Here are the steps to access and replace the waste ink tank/pads:
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the printer cover to access the ink cartridges.
  3. Gently push the print head to the right to move it to the ink cartridge replacement position.
  4. Look for the waste ink tank/pads at the bottom of the printer housing, just beneath the print head. They may be covered by a small plastic panel.
  5. Remove the plastic panel, if present, by gently pulling it toward you.
  6. Use tweezers or gloves to carefully remove the old waste ink tank/pads from the printer.
  7. Replace the old waste ink tank/pads with a new one, making sure they are seated properly.
  8. Replace the plastic panel, if present.
  9. Push the print head back to its original position.
  10. Close the printer cover.
  11. Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.
  12. Reset the waste ink counter by following the instructions in your printer manual or by using a reset utility program.
It's important to note that replacing the waste ink tank/pads can be a messy and complicated process, and it may be best to have it done by a qualified technician or Epson service center to avoid damaging your printer or causing a mess.

Both the red and green light are on and blinking. What is wrong with my Epson C60?

kiryakitsa1 You should download the SSC Service Utility as pineworks says. Read the instructions and warnings. Go to Reset counter protection and press reset. You may recieve a warning about replacing your waste ink pads. I have always reset the protection counter without replacing the waste ink pads and I have never had a problem. If you see ink drainage then you should replace the waste ink pads and then reset the protection counter. I have never had a problem with ink heads and I have done this many times.

I have already connected a tube to have an external waste tank. how do i clean the waste paste or is it still needed to clean the waste pad?

Hi there you can download this from my website.
There no easy way the printers are been made this way so you take them to the shop, but if you are handy with your hands and know what you are doing then you will need to take all apart and take out the ink pads inside the printer and clean them up make sure they nice dry when put back in, then you are going to need a program that you can find on the internet it will be called waste reset tools, or your printer will not work even after you done the clean out.
Main features.
SSC Service Utility allow you to do many amazing things with Your Epson printer :
1) Work directly with CSIC in Epson Stylus printers cartridges.
2) Reset or rewrite any chip using special addon device.
3) Freeze internal ink counters.
4) Reset internal ink counters even with empty cartridges.
5) Separate cleaning of color and black heads for all Epson inkjet printers, powerful cleaning mode.
6) Hot swapping of cartridges supported.
7) Resetting of protection counter (even then it is already full).
8) More then 100 different Epson printers supported
This allow many people with high printing demands to save some money (program works with both black and color cartridges).
Up to day this software works under Windows 95/98/ME/2K2/XP with both the LPT and USB printers.

Printer has ink BUT has stopped printing

It is your print head, not ink cartridge
It is reasonably easy to change yourself - google for Stylus C70 printer head

Don't know how to clean inkheads of my Epson Stylus Photo RX620

the ink only must not have tried up on the heads, it must have dried up completely what you should do is, the surface that faces down while inserting the catridge is the part you should clean or otherwise first shake the catridge very well untill ink comes out if ink does not come out, it means the ink has dried up, thanks

most problem with printers are dirt inside. if you want to experiment, try opening the printer, usually held by snaps, if accomplished clean all contacts, cables ribbon wires, then reassemble. thats easier said than done.

EPSON STYLUS C43SX PRINTER

You need to reset the waste tank or the counter to resolve the problem.

If your C42 blinks both lights and displays a message to the effect that parts inside your printer have reached the end of their servicable life, then you probably need to clean the waste ink pads. These pads collect waste ink whenever the printer cleans it's heads. The printer counts how much ink it thinks is in the waste ink pads and refuses to print when they are full.

To verify whether this is the case, download the "SSC Service Utility" from http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml.
