My typewriter (Brother GX-6750) does not print correct letters

Just put a new print wheel on my GX-6750 Brother typewriter, and for some reason the "9", "n" and "v" are printing as double vertical lines

The lines are the hammer face you have a bad printwheel.

Check to see if the unit is not on the demonstration mode. Also, does this unit have language change feature? if so, maybe it is set for another language and you cannot of course recognize what is is printing. Or , has any liquied or hi level of moisture gotten to the unit o r the keyboard? The moisture will effect everyhting and make it iratic until thoroughly dry. Goodluck, Macgivor

have you tried chaging the daisy wheel with a known good one? If yes, have you checked to see if the hammer is in a good condition?

What do I do when I strike one letter and another is printed?

First make sure that the the pitch selector on the keyboard is set to the correct pitch for the printwheel , if there is a pitch selector on this typewriter. Also try taking out and reinstalling the printwheel then turn the typewriter off and back on so it can rehome the printwheel.

Install wheel, turn machine on and off this resets the printer and home timing. If it still does not correctly, adjustments needed..

My GX-6750

The print whell may be rubbing on something....exp ribbon....check and make sure there is nothing blocking the free movement of the wheel.

Check the print wheel to see if any spokes are bent or missing, be sure that you have the proper correction tape (tack free) and that you are not in proportional space or have an international print wheel.

Look for bent or broken spokes on daisy wheel .turning unit off for 20 seconds and back on should reset the daisy wheel home position. probably the daisy wheel.

Not the daisy wheel, the chrome guide behind it. There's a phillips screw on each side of the carriage to adjust the guide position. You load 2 sheets of paper at once, loosen the 2 screws and push the guide up against the paper. hold the guide while you tighten the screws, take the 2 papers out, and you're ready to type again...
