SOURCE: Video does not work on my Coby MP705-2g

I worked on this all day and FINALLY found the solution. Are you ready for this!

The video converter that comes with the player actually does work but it will only convert WMV's to the correct AVI format for the player. Here's what works for me and has worked ever since I found the solution.

Download the Prism Video Converter. It's free and works. Use that converter to make your videos into WMV's. Then use the converter that comes with the player to convert the WMV's to the correct AVI format for the player. After the videos are converted to the correct format for the player move them to the Data Folder and enjoy!

SOURCE: i have the problem in playing videos on me coby mp605-2g

I work for COBY tech support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Your player can only play videos that have been converted to .mtv format. This is achieved by using the MTV converter that should have come with your player. If you don't have it, please visit, www.cobyusa.com and in the product search type "MPC7095". Click on the link for the MTV Video Converter 1.12.11 and you'll be able to download the software to your pc. I recommend trying to convert .avi files only and be sure to set the fps and screen size to their proper settings. If you need assistance with this, please call the number above and one of our agents will walk you through it.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. I hope I've earned a positive rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

These devices have a limited set of movie formats that it will accept. Read the owners manual to find out what types those are and make sure the video you loaded onto it match what the device can play.

My Coby mp601 8gb won't play the converted mtv videos, says "format not recognized", what's up with that???

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. I downloaded a movie to my pm3 but you cant see the movie

Mp3 player play music. MP4 players are capable of watching clips and movies in MP4 format. What you downloaded needs to be in that format and your player has to be MP4 capable.

Why does it say invalid file format when i tried to play a movie on my mp4 player

Because it is NOT in the correct CODEC, you need to convert it to the Format of your MP4, read your manual for what to do.

Unable to watch movies

Assuming you have the latest firmware update installed (late 2008 I think) Mediagate 450HD won't play MP4 or H264 encoded files. It also won't play MKV or MWV files - there may be others but these are the file types I have encountered the same error when playing. Some MP3 music files won't play either but I have yet to investigate why this is. Solution - convert the file to standard AVI format - keep the same settings as the original file. There are a number of Windows (AVI Convertor) and Mac based programs that do this - Google is your friend. Hope this helps

Warning File Format Error

It seems that your trying to play a video that the media player does not support. The video works on your computer because the computer supports many more video file formats that the media player does. Make sure that the video your trying to play has a .mp4 file extension after the file name, meaning that it is a mp4 file. Try another known working mp4 video file.
good luck and i hope this has helped.
